@aa .. just cruel leading them on. My advice is to just run and lookout for yourself.

@OP he potential reduction of roles within a Computational and Modelling team can be understood in the context of Shell's current portfolio restructuring and the strategic shift away from businesses and assets that are considered non-core or insufficiently competitive. Shell is actively reviewing and divesting chemical assets, including the reported exploration of a sale of its U.S. chemical assets, while continuing to simplify and high-grade its Chemicals and Products portfolio. This creates a fundamental change in the future demand for internal computational and modelling capabilities that were historically required to support the development, optimisation, troubleshooting and long-term operation of Shell's chemical assets. When a business unit or asset portfolio is sold, the associated modelling requirements do not necessarily disappear, but the ownership, responsibility and location of that work can change; modelling activities may instead move to the acquiring company, become embedded within a smaller operational organisation, be provided by external specialists, or be supported through standardised tools and existing corporate capabilities. Consequently, the volume of Shell-specific modelling work can decline even if computational science itself remains technically important. This is particularly relevant where modelling teams were established to support a broad chemicals portfolio, because the removal or divestment of major assets can reduce the number of processes, plants, development projects, optimisation studies and technical decisions requiring dedicated internal modelling support. Shell's recent results also demonstrate the commercial pressure surrounding the Chemicals business: Chemicals recorded negative adjusted earnings in Q1 2026, while Shell continues to emphasise capital discipline and the divestment of non-core assets

they will be fine , they will get projects as they are mostly capability driven team they adapt according to problem , so all good, cheers!
