Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

The Lyons' Apologists Ring the Bell Too Early

Heh-heh. Did you see these guys this morning?

Fiserv drops at the open and suddenly the Lyons Widows are dancing around like they just inherited Webistics. “It’s collapsing!” “Takis is finished!” One stunad was probably pricing a commemorative plaque.

Then the stock claws almost the entire dip back and finishes in the same general neighborhood as the Dow and FIS.

Now, suddenly, everybody’s quiet.

These people don’t understand stocks, fundamentals, or companies. They understand refreshing a red number and becoming emotionally aro--ed. The market gives them fifteen bad minutes and they think they’re Warren Buffett. Heh-heh.

And this obsession with Lyons? Madonn’. The man leaves behind a crater and they defend him like he personally tucked them in at night. Takis inherits the mess, the stock fights back after bad guidance, and they’re disappointed it didn’t go bankrupt before lunch.

They’re not investors. They’re hecklers with Yahoo Finance open.

Commendatori, Takis. As for the glorified Lyons fan club, next time wait until the closing bell before you start licking the frosting off the bankruptcy cake.

@ac is correct about FB fu--ing this place over. He set up Lyons to fail. Lyons kept peeling the rind off this place to see that the rot was still creeping in all BUs. I personally think he was heading in the right direction but I don't think he wanted to deal with the stress and bullsh-t anymore, so he opted to leave.

He did the same as others who are leaving.

We need to acknowledge this: Frank ruined Fiserv post acquisition. The other folks doing his bidding are to blame, too. Most left, but others remain (looking at you Lyndon Keyes).

Another thing: we are not competitive when it comes to processing rates in GBS. It's a constant complaint and reason for attrition.

How about CEOs, the other executives and VPs make a bit less money to help improve our financial position. When you're a minion, you get fired for underperforming. When you're a executive, you get rewarded despite poor performance. They need to held accountable and get their pay cut or GTFO.

Knowing Fissurve, the stock will implode back into the 40s soon and then the excuse will be "well the rest of the market is down too."

@a9 See, this is what I’m talking about.

You say nobody’s defending anybody, nobody’s celebrating anything, fine. Then answer the actual argument. Was the intraday move being exaggerated or wasn’t it? Did the stock recover most of the drop or didn’t it? How did it perform versus the market and FIS? Those are questions with answers.

Instead you write a whole psychiatric evaluation of some anonymous guy you’ve never met. Angry. Bitter. Insecure. Ego problems. Personal beef. What happened to Gary Cooper, the strong, silent type? Now everybody’s gotta be Dr. Melfi because somebody made fun of their stock-market analysis.

And the best part? You’re calling somebody lame for posting on The Layoff... in a lengthy post you wrote on The Layoff, because his posts bothered you.

You don’t see the irony there?

If the argument is wrong, dismantle it. If all you’ve got is “you seem insecure,” then maybe the soapbox isn’t on the side of the street you think it is.

The damage Frank and his minions caused to the company will take YEARS to recover from, if it can.

Lyons was disappointing as a CEO. He wasn't a good leader and never lead. Dhivya su-ked and that was his hire. He made some bad decisions.

But how much can you really pin the blame on him? Where I place blame on is whoever put him in that CEO position when he clearly was not cut out for because he doesn't have the chops to run a fintech and also putting out the dumpster fire this company is currently in. He's a banker and apparently had enough self-awarness to recognize that fact and left to go head up a bank. He'll be far more successful there than here.

Anyone who criticized earnings shared general frustration with Fiserv. No one defended anyone or celebrated it. Sounds like you have a personal beef that perhaps you should deal another way other than posting on The Layoffs. You think you’re so smart but you’re really just an angry, bitter, insecure person who clearly needs to boost their own ego so desperately that you take your soap box to some stupid complaint site. Pretty lame.
