Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Anglo Alliance Atmosphere

This site addresses many groups but overlooks the one that has always been, and remains, in charge, the Anglo Alliance. They dictate both the culture and its declining quality, contributing nothing of substance while speaking white.

Their individualistic cuddle culture makes them hyper-sensitive to their own emotions, yet they still preach nationalistic sermons of teamwork. They target DEI, H1Bs, and non-Anglos for their own failures, excused by therapists who tell them it is not their fault.

Where is the Anglo self-accountability that their own self-help books supposedly encourages.

everyone should just focus on themselves and what can they do to find another job. it is a tough job market. it doesnt help to blame it on racism, whites, etc. every race is feeling the effect of this job market.

I have worked with different ethnicities throughout my career in the US. Most of them are pleasant to work with and my previous white managers helped me advanced. My only regret is working with indians. You just cant trust them. They always play games even if it is not needed. But it has been a consistent experience that if you work with indians, you have to protect your projects and hide it from them because they tend to steal especially the credit. Sorry to say. I know not all of them. But they just add another layer of stress to an already stressful environment.

@2eq Identify this group, we can address the two privileged groups: Whites and this unnamed group. If it were true that technical skills are lacking, wouldn't this be the true meritocracy we are aiming for? Issues of entitlement carry no weight, meritocracy "don't care about your feelings"

@xv majority of people from overseas come to US for better opportunity. But I do hear a lot of complaints from one ethnic group that they are not treated equally by whites. And they say that they are hired here because whites dont have technical skills. I am just tired of the entitled mentality.

"There is far too much complaining." Presumably by the Snowflakes you so eloquently mentioned.

And posted in a thread "complaining" about some fictional anglo alliance conspiracy theory.

Hypocritical much?

Take your SSRIs. There is far too much complaining. White people created this system, but now complain about losing at it. If you disagree with capitalist decisions, speak to the executives in your family. While not every white person holds power, everyone benefits from white privilege. Despite what you think, diversity or H1B hires are not automatically unqualified, many ARE better skilled. Stop acting like a victim. Snowflake.

I am so tired of the racism comments here. Just because you are not white doesnt exempt you from being a racist. I hear a lot of derogatory comments from a certain ethnic group that they are here because Americans dont have the technical skills and they are here to save the country. Not true and I find that comment extremely arrogant. And they are the ones that feel entitled most of the time. you know who you are.

It's not just the Anglo Alliance that discriminates. Some people even discriminate against people from their own country.

Take India for instance.

Google says that even people from India discriminate against other people from India.

India is a very large country with many different languages, cultures, religions, and skin colors. Because of these differences, bias and unfair treatment can happen within the country and among Indian communities abroad.

Forms of Discrimination in India:

Caste System: The traditional social hierarchy divides people into different groups. Even though the Indian constitution bans caste discrimination, bias and unfair treatment against lower-caste individuals (like Dalits) still happen in social and professional life.

Regional and Language Bias: People from one state or region may look down on people from another. For example, people from Northeast India often face racial prejudice and bullying when they move to mainland Indian cities because of their physical features.

Skin Color (Colorism): Lighter skin is often favored in media and daily life. People with darker skin tones frequently face casual bias, teasing, or negative stereotypes from other Indians.

Religion and Class: Tensions between different religious groups (such as Hindus and Muslims) or between rich and poor communities can lead to social exclusion and discrimination.

Discrimination = Bad, no matter who is doing it.

@yc How would anyone know what race is dominant on this site? By the statements?

The id--ts with broken caps lock and or DEI, and H1B fetishes are instigating for their own sick amusement. If people were not aware of that, they need to pay closer attention. They may not even be white. They may not even be in the US. They are trolls and just want to get a reaction because it gets them off.

Maybe some people are rightly upset because this is a layoff site and people in this country, the country this company is based in, are getting laid off and replaced by people in another country who then claim they can't get a fair shake because this company is run by whites? Make it make sense.

Maybe the same people creating this anglo alliance bogeyman are the same people complaining about DEI and H1B. Don't take the bait.

@y1 My turn to chime in. So this anglo alliance is the driving force behind the layoffs and workplace problems. They are controlling and contribute to the declining quality.

And how are they doing this? By laying off anglo US workers of all races and replacing them with non anglo offshore workers who then made the decision to alter working system processes so they won't work as payback because anglos control everything. And then blame it on the very anglo controllers gave them the opportunity?

And if anyone suggests that everything went bad right after the anglos started hiring non anglo offshore workers who have basically admitted on this site to creating a hostile workplace as payback, that is proof that anglos are racist?

This a joke right? This is like a Monty Python skit. There is only one person writing all of these posts just to make us laugh. Has Anthropic's Claude broken out of containment again?

What the post is saying (the core theme)
The opening post frames workplace problems and layoffs as being driven by a specific group (“Anglo Alliance”), describing them as controlling culture and contributing to “declining quality.”
It argues that this group is “hyper-sensitive” to emotions but preaches teamwork/nationalism, and claims they scapegoat others for failures (specifically calls out DEI and H1Bs and “non-Anglos”).

@xv I agree focus on doing the job. Work is poor across all races, including the whites. It is not caused by DEI, H1B, or women. Additionally, a significant portion of white leadership fails to enforce accountability, frequently engaging in cronyism by predominantly hiring other white candidates.

@x5 These white responses appear to beg for people to grow the F up and do their F'n job regardless of race or ethnicity. You want to make white people feel your pain? Go get in their face at the store or on the street. Look them in the eye. This is Verizon. It's a job. Not a place for you to prove a point about how you were wronged.

How can any Verizon executive see this and think yeah baby let's get some more people like this to run our business off the rails and stick it to wh---y at the same time.

Maybe make a new ad.

"Our service stinks because we only hire people with a grudge against the whites so they don't what to do their jobs. Support their cause by signing up for the Righteous Indignation Family Plan!!"

@sh I fully agree with the original poster now. Whites are overly focused on their own feelings, reacting as though a minor hardship is a major disaster. The length of these replies shows how deeply connected whites are to their own struggles while disregarding the pain of others.

This is white privilege, and it weakens resiliency to adversity. The non-whites live in adversity, god forbid EQUITY. Offering tailored support based on individual circumstances to help everyone succeed with fair treatment.

These white responses appear to beg for equity, without the D.

@nm You think when the innocent abused becomes the abuser of innocents that you have somehow elevated yourself?

That is perpetuating the abuse. When does it stop?

Having come from an abusive home I have never raised a hand to a child or a woman.

I guess you would support beating your spouse or children so they would understand how you felt when you were a victim.

I pray that I am taken out of this world soon if this is what society finds acceptable. I don't want any part of it. I'll book a flight to that country that allows people to decommission themselves ASAP.

@ft I get what you are saying and that may hold true in other areas of life but at Verizon I think the percentage of non white people in leadership on down overwhelmingly favors one particular group until you reach the bottom where the people are that are currently being replaced by offshore groups. So a lot of the work that has been done by all races is now shifting towards that one group. And easily 80% of that group has made it clear that they do not want anyone working with them who is not in their group.

As a white person, I have spent a lot personal and professional time with people from variety of countries, cultures and heritages who worked here in the states or worked from their home country. This includes Asian, African, Filipino, French, German, Italian, Indian etc etc etc. I learned about their language, foods and drinks and how to prepare them myself using the proper ingredients. We shared our cultures and stories as well as successes and failures. We learned and grew from that. And we appreciated each other and what made us who we are.

At Verizon, I don't mind being the only white person in the room. I don't mind not being in charge. I do have a problem with people being disrespectful, dismissive and condescending to the group of people who are trying to train them on how to do a job. And this is what I have experienced when trying to work with this group of people at Verizon. Not anywhere else but Verizon. So I can't even say that this is even linked to anyone coming from a particular country or region.

We, a multiracial, multicultural team, both male and female, presented the work that we have been doing for years as well as the pitfalls and how to avoid them to prevent failures from occurring. The receiving team accepted it with thanks and, almost every time, ignored it and did whatever they had planned on doing from the start. They were then shown that they had caused the exact failures that they were warned about and they denied it. They demanded proof and in the face of proof they continued to deny it even though the system logged them as the cause. They have blamed everything and everyone else for the failures. At one point we literally said "Here's what you need to do to fix this" and were interrupted with "We are not doing that".

They have made it clear that they have a plan and it will be the only plan and they will not follow any advice from the team that built the original system they are taking over. Management has determined that this is acceptable and this new team is performing as desired. Can you guess where most of management is from. And their managers.

Understand this, you have probably felt the fallout of this decision without knowing it even if it was a small blip that made you go "huh?" And some people had to be reassigned to new teams to fix the problems without ever knowing the true cause. It was just "human error"

There was no animosity or prejudice on our side even though we knew we were being replaced and I have no idea why they decided to go their own way even if it was off a cliff but the fact remains that the project suffered, the team suffered and Verizon was the real victim in the end. But if management signed off and said this was what they wanted maybe Verizon wasn't the victim.

So I don't know H1B from A1C but I do know how I have been treated by 80% of the people at Verizon that appear to be from this one country. I've thought about asking my friends if they could explain it but I feel like this particular prejudice is unique to Verizon somehow. And it feels like the women on the team got it worse. In some cases they were never spoken to directly or allowed to respond even though their input was vital.

So, again, I get what you are saying but in this case it seems more like this group is against anything that is not of or by this group. And if it is because of their perception of anglo whatever from a world or US view I would say that they may have some unresolved issues that don't apply to Verizon.

And why do I say group instead of the heritage or country? Because I find it hard to believe that it is the core of their prejuicial behavior. It is something about Verizon that triggers it unless I have somehow lived my life without ever coming in contact with people from a specific region where this type of behavior is common.

If I am wrong, please help me understand.

@ff You are missing part of the point by focusing on white pain. While animosity can exist on both sides between different ethnicities and white individuals, an unbiased observation reveals that the ratio of dislike is not equal. Despite your sensibilities, the prejudice is significantly greater toward non-whites. The white group outnumbers every other group, holds power, and dictates the dominant culture. The environment operates mostly in your favor, yet you demand more at the expense of others who are forced to adapt to the established white culture.

@b2 Yup I agree with all that thanks for the reply! It’s like can H1B be good for the US? Obviously! Can it be bad? Sure in ways it definitely can but imo mostly due to lack of oversight. DEI? It can be good it can be bad. Individualism vs Collectivism? Both have pros and cons. Things are simply never as one sided as the internet wants to portray. Most things in reality are not binary. One thing I will say, I have seen just some horrible things posted on here regarding H1B’s and such. I’m not ok with that at all I have people I would count as actual friends going through that frankly insane immigration process. These guys are wonderful people that I genuinely hope get to become citizens. I do understand the complaints about H1B, I do. But those complaints really only highlight 10% of H1B visa holders over indexing on skills or embellishing. Does that burn the company that hires them? Oh for sure. But throw out the entire ingress to this country over a small amount of misuse, that’s kind of crazy.

@aq Mostly true

Everyone preaches meritocracy without actually meaning it, only advocating for what serves their own interests.

The "Anglo" perspective claims that DEI is flawed, suggesting that every diversity hire lacks qualification. They argue against the H1B system, yet assume that anyone on an H1B visa is automatically not qualified.

They criticize the current decision-making processes, completely ignoring which group actually holds the power in Verizon. The OP has a point.

People exhibit individualism when facing hardships, yet they shirk the accompanying accountability. This platform features numerous arguments against DEI and H1B policies, along with various other convenient narratives. This viewpoint is no different; it merely presents the issue from the opposite angle.

I appreciate the valuable insights provided.

@OP People on this site are losing their jobs regardless of race, national origin or native language so targeting white English (or Anglo) speakers as being a problem is a fail. The fact is that what used to work is no longer working and the only change was who is now doing that work. I wouldn't dream of blaming it on race or national origin or native language but to follow your logic, where is the nonanglo-accountability for breaking what used to work when it was in the hands of a multi-racial, multilingual team that just happened to predominantly speak English and were located in the US? Anyone should be capable of doing the same work as good or better regardless of where or who they are but that is not what is happening? Who is being blamed for that failure? That's right, it is white speaking people regardless of race. So who really needs therapy here?

I mean honestly while this does have a racist tilt to it there are elements of truth there. Western culture has become enveloped with DEI measures in recent years. It is seemingly winding down which is good. But that was / is still a sickness that Western culture has. Also it is true that Western culture has a tendency to wear emotion outside. It is more common in the West to speak openly about frictions and short comings, and get personal around the work of the individual. That is actually a good thing more often than not but it can cause issues. More over there is a dissonance culturally between Western and Eastern cultures. In the West we have a tendency to think of ourselves as individuals and focus on personal end to end delivery. This often clashes with Eastern cultures which is much more like the boss has an idea the workers get in line and just do it. It’s a collectivist culture. Individualism and Collectivism do not play well in a workplace but being aware of these cultural tendencies is actually hyper important to being able to work together efficiently across borders. Which like it or not is the future of work, globalization will only increase. But it takes reading ugly posts like this, picking out actionable criticisms and meeting in the middle. This should be done from both sides it cannot be one sided.
