Thread regarding Blackbaud Inc. layoffs

Are you planning to put in for the VSP?

Some people can’t deal with 2 years of uncertainty, and 4 months is a decent amount of time if you use it wisely.

No need to reveal your role or anything.

I’m not, but 2 on my team are and that’s going to be concerning for me if they get accepted, workload wise.

@1dj They absolutely could deny you, but it's hard to believe that applying would put a target on your back in a meaningful way. They already know what roles they'll be moving to India, they're just looking for volunteers before the layoff. These are the potential outcomes:
(1) Apply and get approved and get four months of severance
(2) Apply and don't get approved and get laid off in two months with two months severance
(3) Apply and don't get approved and keep your job until they decide to lay you off at some future date
(5) Don't apply and get laid off in two months with two months severance
(5) Don't apply and keep your job for ??? amount of time until the next round.

Do we think there's a chance they would deny someone that applies? I'm seriously considering it, leaning towards taking it. But I would be really bummed if they denied me, and I put a target on my back.

I applied it. I love what I do and my entire career has been around Blackbaud, but I’m already overworked and I don’t want to be around for the work after this goes through being added to my plate. Also… what if your management and directors take it… who’s got your back after that… I hope I get approved it’ll be a nice reset.

@v0 HR is not the employee’s friend. Their job is to protect the company. The sooner everyone learns this in their careers, the better.

I wish they would have offered this earlier. I wish HR folk would have told me to hang on a few more weeks for the voluntary severance that mgmt previously said was not an option.

Welp, the stock is up. Welcome A'Baud BBI, AI, and thanks to all the ex Fi-Serv guys pumping up their parachutes.

For almost a year, the theme at Blackbaud has been pretty damn consistent: cover themselves legally and keep moving full steam ahead with India. The EVP is just another piece of the same playbook.

@OP looks like they are trying to avoid the 50 person threshold so they don't have to give you the 60 day advance notice.

A big concern is when the next round of cuts occur after this.
The workload won't decrease and when does the next lease buildout finish for gcc.
Either way i suspect everyone has started looking.

Not planning to apply.

One person I know considered the option, but they are eligible for rule of 65 next year, which is a more lucrative offer, especially if they are laid off after applying for rule of 65.

@as that’s exactly why it’s an approval process so that doesn’t happen.

Oh so they have to approve you if you apply? Would be hilarious if the whole damn company took it and left them high and dry

In this market, with this economy? Not a chance. I’d also argue this paints a target on your back. I have zero faith leadership will treat a voluntary separation as any kind of goodwill gesture toward employees looking to exit on their own terms. My read is that they’re banking on a wave of people self-selecting out who would’ve been cut in the next RIF anyway, but they’ll quietly reject those requests if they still need the headcount for another quarter while the India ramp-up continues. Outside of being close to retirement, I don’t see how this works out in your favor.
