Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What's stopping all of us on going on a work stoppage?

Oracle has decided to down rank everyone in the reviews, they're pushing aggressive layoffs, demanding free overtime.

At this point what do you have to risk by coordinating a work stoppage? They're going to do layoffs anyway. No point in trying to pretend like they didn't put you on the list.

To HR and management reading this.. You asked for it.

@dd that article offered nothing new, so I'm unclear on why you keep reposting the link.

@f5 how much did the lawyers get? After you pay all the fees was it worth the effort to sue?

@ct in an EMEA country certain SEs has got money back from stolen comissions from the company thanks to labour courts. It is just an example. Sue the company, no matter what.

@cw because a majority of the people don't want it. The crazies on the extremes are the ones who make all the noise but the vast majority of Americans are somewhere near the middle of the road with minor deviations to the right or left and don't get involved in day to day politics. They have real lives.

What’s stopping a revolution from overturning the U.S. government’s current administration?

@ch In which Europe countries did suing the company work?

It is more useful to sue the company after the lay off, specially in Europe, no matter there is a work union or not, etc. That has been proven useful for people that left in recent RIFs. I strongly sugguest anyone impacted in Europe to sue the company for unfair dismissal just after being released

Just quiet quit. Do what you can in the hours you are actually paid for and nothing else. Arrive and leave on tine, take all your vacation tine.

When the work piles up because there isn't enough folks to do it, then maybe someone might notice.

@OP - You're a really dim bulb. Try to force a work shutdown and you're out the door. Immediately. Plenty of Indians available to take your place.

Nothing. Send out a slack message with your proposed date/time. Maybe stop by an art-supply place and pick up the materials for some billboards while you are at it.

@b1 people only seem to talk about unionizing right before and during layoffs. The time to start a union would have been last August (2025) or earlier. Now if you try to unionize Oracle will just layoff anyone who gets involved and use the excuse that they have been doing major layoffs for over a year and those people were going to get let go in one of the rounds. It will be a tough fight and if you win you get to stay working at Oracle who will be angry with you... nice life. Just move on.

We need to unionize for this to be successful

Have you seen all the posts on here from the people getting hired? Looks like everyone’s replaceable.

@a7 Not in the context of trying to pursue a Unionization. They can’t fire you because that is retaliation against a protected activity which includes forming a Union.

If you are a salary employee you have no work definition if in the US other countries may have such a one on which case you should speak to your local labor board representative. We have no union so your work stoppage will be met with termination for failure to meet the need of your job. It’s an at will employment

Too many bootlickers will break ranks and dilute the impact of any coordinated efforts.
