I’m in the MAC program. My manager told me people can be ranked anywhere from NSI to O even in MAC, but my teammate said that in the first year (MAC) people are automatically ranked “Good.” Which one is actually true?

I was MAC for 2 years about 5 years ago (MBAs and experienced hires have only 1 year of eligibility for MAC). It might have changed now, idk.

I was VG one year and Excellent the next. The year I got Excellent I got CL bump, and the on year after that another CL bump - was that that was rare but not unheard of for early career. Not sure about distribution, but I was not the only one I knew of in MAC-Excellent.
NSI is like normal NSI where you get a PIP. Rumor had it that it was easier to get off PIP as a new hire and that management is more understanding. In my experience that was true. But some people do quit and go elsewhere, or if they took their assessment poorly (cried, tried to fight it, threatened to sue, etc.) ofc they were let go.
MAC = management assigned category. Basically everyone is out in the middle except for those identified to be potential hipos or low performers. It is for new hires.

Mostly VG. E by exception up to 10%, NI at least 5%

VG - 90%
NI/NSI - 4%
Agree with @a4… I was VG both years I was in MAC.
The person you talked to was describing how it used to be before DW went apeshit crazy on employees.
@OP it’s either excellent, very good or needs improvement. Most end up in VG although a very small amount get E and NI. If NI it typically leads to a PIP.
Someone on my team got NSI and PIP-ed last year and they were in the MAC group..
