Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stop Layoff Dan

Please stop conducting layoffs in the name of AI and organizational restructuring, both offshore and onshore. Employees and their families are mentally exhausted. We have families to support, children whose education depends on us, and parents who rely on us for their healthcare.

The job market is already very difficult, making it extremely challenging for laid-off employees to find new opportunities. Please, please, please stop these layoffs.

The American government should also pay close attention to the growing number of employees being laid off every other day and consider the impact this is having on individuals, families, and communities.

The American Government gave these companies the playbook and justification to do this with DOGE. It doesn't care about us any more than Verizon does.

Some employees are trying to learn AI on the job to future-proof their careers, but in practice, it isn’t being used effectively to resolve real bugs or drive actual development. There’s a gap between the push to adopt AI and its real, practical impact on day-to-day engineering work.

Dan laid off or chased out most of his executive team, do you think he cares about Verizon employees at the bottom ranks? Executives have all jumped ship because they know this ship is sinking fast with Captain Dan.

Completely feel this, it’s heartbreaking. But notice something: real estate leases, franchise agreements, vendor contracts, debt, none of that is on the table when they need to cut costs, because those come with contractual obligations. We’re the one piece of the pie without a contract, so we’re the easiest lever to pull. Dividends to shareholders, obligated. Debt payments, obligated. Us, optional. That’s not bad luck, that’s the entire design. The fix isn’t asking nicely to be spared. It’s becoming a piece they’re contractually obligated to, the same as everyone else they can’t just cut. We shouldn’t be this replaceable.

@b9 companies are still paying very high rates for skilled workers. What you’re seeing is Verizon over paid for low skilled workers that copy and paste from one excel to another and these types of employees are no longer needed.

I spoke with a few ex VZ employees that were RIFd and they said companies are paying up to 50% less than the salary they were making at Verizon. Companies are saying supply and demand is driving this. Each job opening is generating 1000s of applications, so companies know they don't have to pay the competitive salaries anymore. In fact, with AI, all they need is a Human in the Loop to guide AI thru the workflow. Many companies know they can hire a basic employee for this.

Dan was the man put in place to do all the layoffs. He was put there to bend the knee for the approval of the current government administration. (frontier merger etc) The government KNOWS what he’s doing, and the cronies love it because less $$$ spent on payroll, most “projects” stopped, less spent on customers and MORE FOR HIS AGENDA KEEPING THE BOARD & shareholders increasing their profits. I can’t wait for the public to push back on all segments of industries believing AI is the “savior”. This isn’t the same company anymore. If anyone thinks that the layoffs will miraculously produced a profit stock boost and innovation they have not touched grass in a long time.

Do you think that Dan cares at all?

The link between CEOs and heir psychopathic traits are well documented. Studies show that as many as 1 in 5 have these traits.

I would also proffer that the higher on the corporate scale the CEO has attained, the more likely they are to demonstrate such traits and are higher on the ASPD spectrum.
