Thread regarding Synopsys Inc. layoffs

Everyone with marketable skills is leaving

Synopsys is in real trouble. Most of the people with actual skills, the ones who could make a difference anywhere, are headed for the door. They've figured out that better pay, significantly better culture, and actual work-life balance are out there. Unless something drastic changes, there won't be any true talent left here soon.

@mc This illustrates how a company was hollowed out by the "termites" within it.

@m5 I checked Sassine's direct reports, 8 were hired between 2021 and 2025, and 3 were hired between 2017 and 2019. Obvious old heads have been completely purged.

@c0 It’s truly inspiring to hear your story of leaving Synopsys for NVIDIA. I have the same feeling—more work, less reward, while the clueless management seems to think we have nowhere to go but stay.

I left early AUG to goto NV - I was being overworked and underpaid as the only employee left with knowledge from the ANSYS merger, no regrets

@OP Guarantee 75% or more of top performers are plotting an exit-usually takes 4-12 months to arrange something decent, so the mass exodus will start likely early next spring through fall.

@bb

You would think that wouldn't you? To quote Steve Martin's character in The Man With Two Brains: "Give me a sign, any sign".

Mgt is regrettably very importance and very hard, but this level of grotesque sui-idal incompetence is something to behold, in all its fascinating horror.

@as Who was it that left?
Honestly, this is the real canary in the coal mine here. All of these people that are running out the door on their own. Shouldn't that be a signal to upper management that something is very wrong?

I am so glad I am out. Sweet Lord. I had another similar experience (protracted series of layoffs, over 2-3 years in that case) in a large tech company many years ago, and it was the absolute worst, soul crushing experience of my life.

How can any mgt do this to their organization and people? It is a combination of corporate self-immolation and abject cruelty, it doesn't make an ounce of sense in any aspect. Has mgt no brains, no sense of decency, nor even a notion of self-interested wisdom. It just baffles me, truly.
