Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Down 15%!!!!!

Whoa, looks like Stripe just didn’t like what they saw. Now the next guy gets even cheaper. I wonder how long until Enrique gets fired? He was brought on to execute faster but he can’t even do layoffs timely. We’ve been talking for MONTHS layoffs.

@bn did I say we should rally behind paypal or that i believe it would turn around? I dont believe so. I was replying to another comment which said it won't be a viable company in 3 years.

@bk the FCF amount you cite has been consistent for over 7 years. Just bc you have healthy fcf should not be the sole reason you rally behind a company.

Case in point: Altria Group, maker of Marlboro cigarettes has 9 billion in trailing 12 month fcf.

I left PayPal two months ago (thank you baby Jesus) and hated it from Alex Chriss onward.

@bg speculation?

@bh do you really think we won't be? Paypal makes 5 billion in free cash flow. Thats huge. They may not have a monopoly on online payments but they'll still be a recognisable brand in 3 years? Will the share price still be tanked? Probably. But they'll still be a viable business. Paypal isnt going anywhere.

@bh Of course, I do. You are working for a very profitable company that has been around for decades. PayPal is not going away any time soon.

@bc Do you really belive that we will still be a viable company in 3 years ?

They wanted the credit side of the organisation only for cents on the dollar
Offer was not accepted

@bc he will not be around in 6 months if he doesn’t sell parts. If they wanted a legitimate payments CEO, they would have hired one. He appointed himself to sell and break up as he did for HP. It’s fine to dream though.

The truth is he doesn't need to completely change the company. Small growth and buybacks will take care of the share price. Just be patient.

In about 3 years, we will all thank Enrique for not selling the company for pennies.

@a4 Do you know how much the stripe severance package is? It's pocket change compared to paypal. You can be guaranteed if stripe takes over they would be cleaning house. If im getting laid off, I want it to be by paypal.

Older isn't the same as unwise—it's usually the opposite. Besides, his job isn't about winning the next Olympics.

@b1 5 years of straight decline. They will have another new CEO in 8 months when the stock is trading in the $30’s. At this point you have to think the Board is out to sabotage. Downgrades piling in now.

@ay That’s some peak delusion. Enrique couldn’t turn a car around let alone PayPal.

Way to go Enrique. Now that this distraction is out of the way, let's refocus on turning this company around.

Good job Enrique! These guys have no idea how good a decision this was to tell Stripe to go fu-k themselves.

Looks closer to 20% now and possibly a 30% drop on the day heading into Monday. A complete train wreck and almost uninvestable at this point.

You’ve been Enrique’d. So a dinosaur who ran a printer company wasn’t the best choice of CEO? Shocker. Is the board waiting a year to fire him when the stock is trading at $40 or will they just get someone competent now?

Massive sale orders starting and the market hasn’t opened yet. This company is cooked and will reach all time lows by October. The BOD’s and leadership team is absolutely clueless and acts like they have no fiduciary duty to its employees and shareholder. This is the result of incompetence so buckle up. They should double layoffs and speed up timeline.

Enrique couldn’t manage a Burger King let alone a fintech. So what now? We wait 2-3 years for this “turnaround”? Great in the mean time my retirement account will just go back to low $40’s a share and if I don’t get laid off I can look forward to $60/share in 2028…..maybe. Yay for me.

That’s premarket. Now Wall Street knows the same incompetent leadership team and BOD’s will be running the show so this will be down 25% by next week. Sad but reality around here.

Anyone who thinks PayPal is better off without Stripe is delusional and hasn’t had their eyes open about how this company is doing on its own. At least they would have brought new leadership from a company that can actually execute.
Except a continued sh*show, eventual firing of Enrique, followed by more chaos. A stagnated product, low morale. More of the same.

Releasing this information late at night going into a Friday seems really suspicious. This isn’t normal. Hopefully investors and employees realize what a good price this is to buy. They want to value Stripe at over $150B for an IPO but don’t have nearly the FCF as us. It’s nuts how Wall Street just kicks us around and each CEO just takes it.

Just wait. Plenty more downside to come. This was in the $40’s before the “deal” was announced and now they don’t even want anymore. By November this stock will start with a 3.
