Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

The Japan Carry Trade - About to wreck Equities

Why does this matter? Because Nike needs to be prepared for a financial downturn. With the consumer already struggling with high gas prices and consumer goods, Nike will be forced to make short term decisions. These short term decisions will hope to buoy the stock price just enough to prevent further bleeding.

What does that mean for all of us? More severe layoffs. Not just Nike but every company that lacks the financials to survive. Won't be '08 all over again, but it won't feel good.

@dd Fiscal 2026 revenue was approximately $46.4 billion, essentially flat after declining nearly 10% in fiscal 2025.

  • Net income was $3.1 billion, down 3%.
  • Free cash flow declined from about $6.6 billion in 2024, to $3.3 billion in 2025, and then approximately $2.2 billion in 2026.
  • Nike Direct revenue declined, digital sales remained weak, Greater China deteriorated, and profitability has been pressured by tariffs, discounting and competition.

@d3 Uhmm, no they aren't? They still have over $9B in cash reserves, it's down from 2022's $12B sure, but nowhere near "lows"

@OP there is also the fact that cash reserves are are at lowest levels since d the last buyback of stocks. What used to be almost $7B in reserves today is a mere $2B. It will las for a minute but not forever and under extreme economic conditions

@cp It's not rocket science. Japenese took low interest loans in yen and bought US tech stocks to ride the wave. US and JP government are colluding to strengthen yen (why, who fu--ing knows) causing sell-offs. This will have a noticeable impact on large cap stocks, but probably will not directly effect Nike or it's consumers to a large degree, it will hurt your 401ks though.

@OP I don't think anyone in this platform understand what you are saying

Because most Nike employees are suppose to be college grad but their mental level is high school. LOL
