Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Big layoffs starting Monday

I have an internal source who just shared with me the final review of layoff plans was concluded today. On Monday they will initiate early morning emails informing those being let go. Full severance.

@d2 Why "no way in H E double-hockey sticks NOT in August?

When I was let go - my notification was on Sept 2, day after Labor Day, and the week or so before, #watercooler was loaded with folks saying they were laid off is anyone else hiring. Well that channel is gone now, but O WAS laying off in August last year. Who's to say they're not going to do the same this year?

@fs I have a feeling you're right. I've seen people saying but someone actually published (yes, I know, people say a lot of things) that O wants it done by September, so those dates you had could be correct.

I say that prepared to be proven wrong.

I've been at Oracle a long time and have survived a lot of layoffs. My gut feeling has always been right. I don't think it's going to be Sep1, its either going to be the 8/24 or 8/31.

@cr People who were told August last year that they were being let go still got their 2025 vesting RSUs, because they were kept on "garden leave" until Sept 22nd. Of course, there is no guarantee of any garden leave in the next RIF, but there is a precedent,

They need to initiate the layoff at least 2 wks (notification period) before the stock options vest so people are off the books and the options are cancelled. so the layoffs need to be done by early September at the latest.

@OP There are like 10 or 20 dates thrown around by various people, dating from earlier in August to end of September, across here, blind, and reddit.

Why is Monday Aug 24th the one to be trusted?

Did your "internal source" define what "full severance" includes? Oracle gives some of the worst severance packages in the industry does this mean that they are reversing this practice?
