Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Criss-Cross Applesauce

Was just informed that my designated working area is over capacity by 10-15 heads. “Expect some flexibility” I’m sorry but who decided it was okay for someone to not have a seat to DO THEIR WORK IN. I shouldn’t be surprised anymore but here we are. If I don’t have a seat, and am expected to work in the cafe off one tiny laptop screen, I’m politely turning around and driving home. If HR comes knocking, I’m claiming harsh working conditions because this is absolutely ridiculous.

@b2 - I would have just said - um - no I was here first. You can wait until next week.

@cr I’ve definitely heard multiple people confirm heads vs seats in their areas and they are far over capacity. I guess they are running it like seats on a flight. Only no one here will get paid to be bumped.

Can’t stand the back to office emails and attempts to recruit site champions (a55ki55ers). Just leave us the F alone. We will come in and do our 8 hours but stop asking for above and beyond interaction.

Time to bring your lawn chair to work. How does this improve collaboration?

This will be the norm in some sites come Sept 7th. Rumor is they over assigned teams to zones assuming less than 100% attendance with overflow planned for the cafe.

@az where in COV? So people aren’t sitting in their designated zones because they “want to sit together?” What a disaster

I just couldn't do it. Took the whole week off. I woke up Monday and my heart was just not in it. Woke up today and same thing happened. Maybe I'll go in next week. Or not and say f#@$ it.

Today I walked in, and there was no where to sit. So I just found a spot on the floor, next to an outlet and setup shop. Like I was at an airport.

Was courteously told to move away from my assigned zone today, being my connect week, because their team was moving in next week, what the heck

@av COV. They have designated zones assigned to each person but my dept is creating “neighborhoods” to ensure all relevant departments are near one another.

@OP what location? Does this mean they are carving out spots for teams and they aren't doing hoteling?

Oh no! I am not going home. I will ask someone to take a picture of me sitting on the floor and hopefully others will be sitting near me so we can post online - linked in fb etc and hashtag fidelityassociate about how we are so energized to remember what it was like to be in kindergarten sitting “Indian style” for those of us older folks. We should be showing our working conditions and discussing them. While we have all this babysitting going on can we get a nap time mid day?

Consider it an opportunity to hone your cross-functional communication, spontaneous collaboration, and culture reinforcement skills.

Pretty soon Fidelity products will say "Made in China" get ready for sweatshop conditions.
