Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

$32-$35

…That's the year-end stock price... sorry Kool-Aid drinkers.

One of my favorite games to play whenever I'm in other cities is looking at what people are wearing. Look at the shoes, the clothing, the sports they're doing and what they're wearing while doing those sports. What kids are asking for going back to school, etc. It is increasingly not Nike.

Everyone is running in Hoka, Adidas. Every other kid has a Messi jersey and basketball shoes are just out. I don't see ppl wearing basketball shoes like they did years ago.

Alo is the new athleisure of choice. The Nike collabs are overplayed... they only pop in the comments sections of Instagram posts.

The decline is real.

@b1 Being pro-DEI is punk now. The establishment is racist. Everyone is kissing the gold crypto ring.

Think about why Costco is so popular right now.

Those $10K AI slide decks from McKinsey predicted NKE would be over $175 by 2026. Well done sir.

@fd Nothing screams “my feelings aren’t hurt AT ALL” like an anonymous emotional breakdown disguised as a market-cap comparison. Imagine defending a multibillion-dollar corporation as if Phil Knight personally tucks you into bed every night. Nike is laying people off, and your response is to brag about revenue like a pathetic little shareholder mascot who doesn’t own any shares. Adidas isn’t the joke here. The joke is watching a grown adult turn corporate statistics into a personality and then type “LOL” through clenched teeth.

@cn My feelings aren’t hurt AT ALL. In fact, I think it’s hilarious that Adidas trolls out here daily because their revenues and market cap are still about HALF of Nike’s at one of the worst times for Nike. I think we all know whose feelings are hurt. LOL

@cv As long as you aren't in a few specific executive controlling roles or have access to privileged information, you can do whatever the fu-k you want with the stock, and trust me, if you are in those positions, you would know it. The filings are a massive PITA.

Go to Europe and you will see zero Nikes anywhere. That is the game I like to play when over there- airports, train stations, nada.

@cv

no

it is also not legal to do insider trading as executives or violate the exchange act and GAAP for personal gain / cover up your personal shortcomings, especially lying to the market in MD&A

I've been buying put options and selling covered calls. It's been easy money so far this year.

@c0 is it legally okay to short your own employers stock?

@c7 Aww, is reality still hurting your feelings, champ? Everyone else seems perfectly fine probably because they’re not desperately huffing Nike’s corporate farts and pretending the stench smells like a turnaround. It’s Enron with better sneakers, pal. But please, keep throwing your little tantrum while the stock sh--s through the floor. I’m sure your denial and wounded ESPP will turn everything around any fu--ing minute now.

@c7 Someone’s awfully butthurt that their precious ESPP isn’t worth a fraction of what it used to be. Eat sh-t, a--hole. I hope it crashes to zero and your smug, entitled a-s loses every fu--ing penny you sank into it. Maybe then you’ll finally learn that arrogance isn’t an investment strategy.

You all are so confident. Short the stock, I am happy to buy the other side.
Talk is cheap you fools.
Shut up and short the stock at this price, maybe you'll make $$$ and won't have to lurk on these anonymous forums.

Nike is not cool anymore. It used to be anti establishment, rebellious, and against the status quo. Now it is just another mainstream corporation, obsessed with DEI and safe, woke advertising. It used to challenge culture. Now it just follows it. There is nothing cool about that.

100% right on Beaverton because I’ll tell you… you get down into Portland and surrounding areas and all these kids are wearing jorts with Samba‘s, Birkenstocks and UGGs.

I still see some people running in Nikes, but increasingly it’s Hoka and Adidas. Not sure what happened to On too because I don’t see as much as I did a few years ago. Agree with Alo…. lulu decline has been to their benefit.

This is in every major city. LA, NY, Chicago, Miami etc but if you only looked at Beaverton you’d think Nike was still king. Nike instagram channels have to collab with other athletes to get any engagement.
