Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Shell Norco

What’s the status of the re-org?

This will be the biggest reduction and change to staff at this site.

Will be interesting to see it play out.

Plenty fat. Top Heavy job roles

@14n that is how all the reorgs are done. It allows them to pick and choose who they want and hit certain targets as needed.

Interesting changes, removing production support at lower grades and adding more managers and high levels in maintenance. Unless these new managers are turning wrenches,,, or writing permits,,, the Maint workload will not increase.

@ja I agree. Top making out good or better. Grade 5 jobs look like a sh-t show.

New org charts out. Not sure why so many people got the "impacted" conversation when their roles are still there. Could've just offered packages and backfilled...

They never cut from the top. It’s always middle and lower levels.

@dr start with medical. That guy is a fu--ing jg1 and does nothing more than walk around trying to justify himself. Process engineering is less valuable than that? Are you fu--ing kidding me shell? YL cut the corporate dead weight instead of making us pay for them!

management never gets pushed out during a reorg to save money. not even lowly line managers.

it only happens if some new VP wants to switch them out for their friends. them it trickles down.

“Cuts” may as well be listed as an industry product line for Shell. Just hope they don’t cut so much as to miss internal vapor line corrosion at the CCU again.

They’ll combine roles so the power players get grade bumps and the worker bees keep the same grade or a bump down for twice the work. Great times for sure
