Was never premium, and is multiple sub brands serving different needs and segments of the market - which you have to do in order to grow. Most worrisome is the loss of confidence within the 4 walls. Getting that back will be hard. Starts with focusing on Customers and your Employees. If employees feel like sh-t, they naturally aren’t treating Customers well. Is so much waste, so many things broken, and so many area where processes that interact with Customers (real operational requirements) that Nike is eons behind in functionality. When only focusing on yourself, eventually your head is so far up your ar-e, there’s nowhere to go. Stop wasting money on projects with no ROI. If it doesn’t help Customers and doesn’t make your employees feel wanted/important - don’t do it. Effort is invariably tied to Attitude, Attitude is invariably tied to feeling listened to and wanted. Is a lot of extremely smart people who aren’t listened to. The only thing moving forward are projects ‘sold’ to Nike by unscrupulous Vendors, who all have one goal - su-k as much blood/cash out the beast as they can before getting caught in their lies. People are not stupid, they see what’s going on, there is just no avenue to bring up those concerns - not with heads so far up our own …
@d4 agreed. You notice the leaders here never talk about outcomes they achieved for the company. It’s all vibes and fake narratives.
i think the OP was asking about 'premium place to work'. we used to be that, others (in this thread) have noted why this is not the case any more.
'premium brand' discussion is relevant here too even tho the OP was not specifically asking about this... we all know what's going on there and some posters have touched upon that subject too.
@cs Thats the toxic problem the entitlement, the bragging, fake narrative, selfishness
Nikes founders wouldn’t even be allowed to work here.
This is all of leadership. I open my LinkedIn and the same worthless DEI leader who openly threatens myself and coworkers Monday through Friday is posting pictures from their hike, waxing about emotional intelligence, and strategic decision making.
Step outside Beaverton and you’ll see no one gives a sh-t about Nike. Meanwhile the marketing teams make Ads then post on LinkedIn celebrating themselves as if they had some profound impact. So many losers in this company and org whose life is Nike. They brag about working late then kiss a-s to become directors. The layoffs are coming though.
It was premium when no other game in town and everyone made cr-ppy cotton clothes and mediocre shoes and Jordan hype was real and designers actually made product people want.
Now it’s just a DEI wasteland with products and colors created in a vacuum with people who have zero connection to the people.
Way more competition now than ever and Nike has done nothing to change. “We’re Nike” is no longer good enough. Adidas figured it out 5 years ago with its new CEO. Nike is toast for awhile.
@OP Nike: where underengineered plastic sh-t gets wrapped in self-congratulatory corporate bullsh-t, priced like a luxury product, and sold as ‘innovation’ to anyone gullible enough to finance the fu--ing swoosh.
If premium means overpriced, then yes. Premium employer? No way. This company can’t for the life of it pick good leaders from bad.
He NO! Not a premium employer or a premium brand. Not even sub par! They lack real leadership. Nike Legal and HR are a joke and that’s who we should really be holding responsible! As long as we have shiy leaders we will continue to show up like a joke. Jump ship! The place is falling apart and you should have a back up plan. Don’t trust anyone!
Was it ever premium?
