Thread regarding USAA layoffs

How does the 60 day and severances pay work?

Do you still continue to get paid now that you’re considered non-active employee for 60 days and then you get your severance? just curious.

@c9 100% be cautious of this. I did this at my old company and lost my severance.

Remember those 60 days you’re still employed. If you accept another role. You aren’t laid off. You’ve now quit.

It’s a notice of potential employment loss due to layoff. If you accept another role during that time you quit your job and took a new job. These companies have automated systems that notify each other. Especially with workday.

Just don’t accept the role until day 61.

@c0 yes, you can. You’ll just need to email employee relations with the start date of the new job, so they can update your end date on the severance agreement.

I was part of the layoffs last October, and was able to land an external role during the first 30 days, however, I didn’t say anything to USAA, just kept collecting my pay until my end date (1/2/2026).

Yes.
You’re still getting paid for the next 60 days. You cannot sign your severance agreement until after your end date. However, if you have pending applications going into your final week, employee relations will extend your end date by 2 weeks as a one time exception, in order to let the hiring process play out. That’s what I did, it got me another 2 weeks of pay.

The severance payment is paid out usually 15-17 days after your end date.
