Thread regarding Qlik Technologies Inc. layoffs

Why do we put up with this toxic management?

Our country manager who has only been at Qlik for less than a year is ki-ling morale. It's got to the point where people have got sick and tired of being talked over and not listened to that they are actively looking for an exit ramp. leadership above are ignoring the issue and it festers away and is causing serious culture issues within our office.

Yeah it was a pretty terrible event. Low customer turnout and the customers that were there have now remarked to me how they tried all night to not get cornered by the country manager. They simply don't want to engage with her as they have said she never listens to their concerns and is only focused on selling them something. As for MG, well, he didn't exactly shower himself in glory and some of his jokes were very cringe

The next week is going to be hard for me. We have to put up with the so called leader coming to town and whilst he tries to give us the pep talk, I know that half won't be listening to him and the other half won't be believing what he says anyway as he is a snake.

AIRT is a complete shambles, low registrations and we aren't even sure those that have registered will actually turn up.

I just need to keep my head down for the next few days, don't make eye contact and just watch in dismay at the lack of leadership we have here.

@k1c It does feel like incompetance is rewarded around here. It's become so blatant that we all know who the favourites are.

This week has been really hard. Trying to explain to customers what's happening and trying to put a positive spin on it all is pointless. Many customers are already voting with their feet and actively moving off.

Morale is terrible, no motivation, no respect, nothing to work for. I'm actively applying for roles with the hope to get out of here as soon as possible.

@k1c any motivation that was left has now disappeared over the last week.

The culture is so bad that we're all actively avoiding the office. Like why would anyone subject themselves to threats and humiliation by going into the office?

Still trying to work out how "country manager of the year" was decided. Was it based on actual results? How many quarters did the country hit target? Morale is in the bin, concerns seem to go nowhere, and MG's comments came across as a thinly veiled threat. Yet the backing from above never changes. The wider problem is a culture that rewards agreement and discourages honest challenge. Surrounding leadership with yes people will not revive technology that already appears to be losing relevance. It will only drag out the decline.

It was interesting this morning to receive the subtle threats that we can't be posting on here.

Apparently free speech is dead and you shall all comply or face the consequences. Seems the days of Mu--olini still exist.

It's really a health hazard working under this toxic leader. The gaslighting, constant negativity, disrespect and overall lack of EQ and strategic leadership.

What's alarming is that my customers and partners see it and literally don't want to work with her. That's such a shame for us in the sales team. We have such a tough job trying to win customers when the leader deters customers away.

@hw8 I heard another customer pulled out today in attending after they heard of the latest cuts. Now we have customers protesting and voting with their feet. Will be a room of zero customers at AIRT at this rate. Maybe do it on the cheap and just have a small round table event down at the nearest McDonalds and get to listen to MG talk like he knows something about data and analytics.

OMG! it's so depressing in the office this morning. No one wants to be here and the Ai reality tour is heading towards a complete fail with limited customers attending. One said to me that they would love to attend only if the french bulldog was not there

I am now envious of those given their marching orders today. They are now free from this nightmare place and won't have to worry about the bullying culture, the country manager who loves to talk about every employer she has worked at as though it has some relevance to the conversation when it doesn't. They are the lucky ones.

Meanwhile we are stuck to deal with more unhappy customers and having to explain why the people they trusted are now no longer around.

@d5n Unfortunately it seems to be a culture now pervading many parts of the business. Treat people mean and expect them to love working here.

@2pc its funny my Leadership ( marketing) keeps telling to be nicer and not be so ruthless and kinder to people.. so there is a disconnect in what you say.

Seems to be some really bad reviews on glassdoor as well. What is going on down there?

Apparently she is the country manager of the year 🤣. Seems only one employee in the company actually thinks highly of her which says more about his decision making capabilities or lack thereof than anything else.

@2q8 I think you're right. It's a real shame the culture down there is that way as it definitely should be better. One person ruining an entire business should never be considered acceptable. It will take years to recover from that type of culture.

What I hear is that a lot of the Aussies are looking elsewhere, interviewing and looking to leave as quickly as possible. Talking to some of them at SKO and it's got really bad. I think they know that they will be replaced with a yes person, but it's becoming increasingly known amongst the tech community down there that it's not a place to join for the really bad culture

@2pn They run a tight ship. I don't think they are oblivious. They just prefer the Elon Musk style of leadership.. treat your employees harshly to push them harder. Yes, this pushes out some great employees who won't tolerate that behavior. But they are OK with that trade-off, since that opens up opportunities for new 'yes men' to take their place.

@2pc agreed. It does seem to be behaviour that is condoned and tolerated from higher up. They seem oblivious to the impact that it is having on the organisation.

Unfortunately, the leadership at the very top is ruthless. And they give feedback to their directs to be more ruthless, they see kindness as weakness. And so it trickles down.
