How do you make friends here? part of my job is actually to help people do less manual work but it seems that everyone loves manual work. And when I ask my manager if I can reach out to some other teams, he/she said: oh. Please don't, we just do not talk to each other.
I was like, how are we going to do the projects? Can anyone shed some lights here?
This used to be a great company to work for, benefits and pay was excellent.
Then the constant yearly layoffs of 20 years have turned people into fearful people.
People used to be friendly and departments used to work together .
But since the increase of fear caused by yearly layoffs. People are now very
protective of what they know and keep it to themselves .
Why ? to try and make themselves as valauble as possible to avoid being laid off.
Departments do the same thing to protect themselves.
Blame the destructive Senior mgmt which has done nothing but create fear and chaos among the workers.
I'll take the layoff and the package!
Coworkers aren't friends. Go outside touch grass. Meet people These people aren't your friends. Maybe some of them are decent enough to talk too throughout the day, but they're not your friends.
Employee just want to keep their job as long as possible, then leave at their own prefer timeframe. Automation is OK, but I only let them how much automate on my job, then lay me off

Just like 35 years ago people started using PC, Internet, OS. Are you saying that now people should not use those to save time?
If you just wanna do some repetitive work, then I think you will have the problems no?
I am all against the layoff BS!! But I am willing to learn everything. Duh?
Is it really that hard to understand?? People are being laid off left and right. Less manual work equals more automation, which means that person is next on the layoff list. Duh.
If you got AI better than copilot let me know. Lol. I have so many tasks at work I could automate if they let me use Claude or Codex, Deepseek, literally anything other than Copilot.
