I know it’s complicated, but looking for something simple….like below:

Avg OWD = 1yrs
Avg Outstanding = 2yrs
Avg Excellent = 4yrs
Avg V Good = 8yrs
Avg Good = 16yrs

Thanks for any useful info.

@fm sounds about right, I know a person that got moved into a new role that was historically CL28+ but that person CL remained same as in a previous job. Also the new job scope increase came with such a “lateral” move. It’s very beneficial for company to have someone that is getting paid lower while doing higher responsibilities that were typically associated with higher CL. When we asked that person why would one accept such terms, that person replied because their previous boss said it’s a great growth opportunity (aka dangling carrot) but avoided to address any payment and CL increases and told that this will be something new management can address. But upon inquiring with new management they are getting some nonsense and absurd information that makes zero sense.

Job descriptions have been downgraded two CL levels globally. Expect work that was once CL-30/31 to be CL-28/29 going forward.

Executives will be few and far between.

Ignore the old promotion charts. Roles downgraded and in parallel, potentials lowered. Don't expect same CL and pay as our predecessors. I know, this has been said many times before on this site. Now I know, b/c I've experienced. Was lateralled to position where predecessors had historically been Exec, and most immediate predecessor had been Exec 10+ years. Was told was a stretch assignment for me, and mgmt to wait year or two to see how I performed. Fast forward 2 years after getting E and OS. Was NOT promoted to Exec, and when I inquired, response was that position was reclassed to non-exec. Yes...

@da incorrect, some roles have a required minimum CL and as you get moved into these your CLs gets a bump just simply for moving into this role

There is a yee range for cl promotion that applies to the average career hire up to cl27.

@d3 Role assignment and CL are disconnected and always have been. Your promotion is a CL change, not a role change. That being said, certain roles require a minimum CL in order to be considered.

When someone at CLXY leaves and another person steps into the exact same role (same title, same responsibilities), why doesn’t the CL bump happen immediately?

It seems like the company can assign the role instantly, but CL changes lag behind by a full cycle or more.

Is this because role assignment and CL promotion are handled separately? Does the CL eventually catch up, or can someone stay in the higher‑scope role indefinitely at the lower CL?

Curious how this works now that the old promotion guide isn’t published.

It is no longer published but is a combination of YEE and ranking results. Ranking is not just for one year but the average of recent rankings rounded down.
