Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

BPOs

I'm beginning to hear more and more that the BPOs are not performing as expected. The hubs didn't perform as expected so why State Farm chose to go backwards and outsource work no one can explain, intelligently. to us. I guess we should feel better, job security and all, but I don't. I'm hoping SF sees the error in their ways but I have a feeling we'll be laid off long before they figure that out. They told us that the people in the BPOs were highly educated, as if they are better than American workers. State Farm will end up in the 3rd spot sooner than they think if things continue on this way. Who is advising the company? The executives? A consulting firm? Something seems so wrong.

@15m I do work for SF, 26 years in and have never kept up with the acronyms, the constant department names changes, the title changes, etc. I'm sure I could list two dozen acronyms from underwriting that you wouldn't recognize. Show a little intellectual humility.

@vj Not knowing what HCL refers to suggests you don’t actually work for State Farm.

Despite that the HCL fiasco was embarrassing for the Farm to have done. Really beneath a once great company.

@e6 - What stable geniuses have been in charge of the company since Ed retired. This is all on them.

saw the change in hiring about 15 years ago. it was when hr took over the recruiting. it was crystal clear what demographic they were going for. 2020 really brought everything into the light.

the wokes took over state farm.

the outsourcing is a failure.

@OP if BPO refers to the HCL outsourcing of 1000 State Farm IT Staff 3 years ago, I certainly hope SF learned its lesson from that adventure.

I interviewed and trained my replacements from HCL/India. It got to the point where we would just hire any candidate that could spell our technology, since none of the candidates were qualified. We were initially told we had a year to train them, but it took over 2 years before they released me, and most of those from India who were hired hadn't started supporting our product, but HCL was instead still relying on the original SF staff to do most of the support.

Business process outsourcing (BPO) is a fancy name for outsourcing ... to the lowest bidder.

State Farm just increased its net worth by $19.5 billion during the first two quarters. They consider it a wild success. If you think they could care about "service" or anything else that makes your n-pples hard get a clue. This company is a scam....insurance and customer service is a nuisance to our Executives!
