Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

What the actual fu-k is happening in this company right now?

I feel like I've drank some poisoned coolaid at the FY27 kickoff. Ever since the last round of restructuring, layoffs, optimisation or whatever the fu-k else you wanna call it the company processes have ground to a screeching maniacal halt. Sales? Unexistant. Licensing? Can't provide you with a license, can't tell a license for two completely different products apart, need to involve 50 people to provide a client with anything. Developers? Now part of Support?! Support? Can't hear a squeal out of them unless you invoke an ancient Latin spell - oh wait thats just all of their senior management's names im writing in the CC of this email, not Ancient Latin. Do they have the clients locked up with a g-n pointed to their head to keep signing up for these dorky a-s shifty products or something??? Every day in this company is like a Benadryl trip where any issue I have needs to be solved by the hat man I keep seeing with the corner of my eye that apparently doesnt fu--ing exist. Absolute misery.

Can’t everything be solved with Titanium X and the Aviators? Our software is so good that we stopped R&D, right? Progress and innovation is overrated, let’s all look at a fax machine and hope that technology comes back.

@e9 never ending re brands just to land on the least SEO optimized product names on the planet. don't forget the blue hair random characters.... sales always left out to dry because of poorly thought thru and executed changes. shifting AEs to CEs and then 2-3-4x their quota..... while total comp package remains the same and we manage 2-3-4-5 SSE numbers under our name? lol..

@d9 Because I saw you said sorry in your post - im def not blaming anyone from Licensing, Sales or any other team for any of this. Its a well known fact we all were thrown into a job that typically requires 6 months of learning and given the same responsibilities as people 10 years on the job when we were a week in and just having watched some internal videos (or if we were lucky, some study materials prepared for the clients). Its not anyone from licensing's fault a bunch of fu--ing mo--ns above decided we need a 15th product renaming and a 23rd new type of license now being OpenText Torture Premium Max Essential Total Ultra.

All blame should go to the people in charge of this company that are absolute buffoons. Everyone in this company I talk to repeats the same thing - feeling helpless, stuck and alone with no way out and everyone I know is interviewing, praying something changes for them and they get an offer and get to escape this hellhole. OpenText are EXTREMELY lucky we are in a sh-t job market right now because I can tell you NOBODY I know from my colleagues actually enjoys working here or has any ambitions long term with the company. Which is normal when they, you know, just fired a bunch of veterans for being paid their fair share.

@dw Mood. A lot of people are quick to dismiss it. Calling it a skill issue or an avocado toast problem. Sht happens, sht can wipe any savings real quick. Just like a job offer can be rescinded until you're in your day 1.

As long as you're staying afloat, doing what you can, sometimes that's the best you get any day. And that's okay. Have support as needed, but better than quitting with 0 plans.

Some will take any equivalent asap, some need to upskill, and some are attempting unique moves to leave. It's not instant. And apparently meanwhile some are asking if they can fix a larger deal's license as a 'future order.' Not my case but it got passed around.

They needed the function now, are you (that AE, not you specifically) waiting to see if you keep your job or? If they leave prior there aint a future deal.

Those of us who need more time, or choose to stay sure have a sh*tstorm coming at this rate. You and me both, dude. This doesn't feel good, even if some departments historically don't get many layoffs.

It feels like spinning wheels on "Aviator this" and "Aviator that" and actually seeing nothing.

The challenge is being stuck... I cannot speak for others, but I need this income and until there's actually a human response to an application (instead of the 2-hours AI rejections) I am here until "I don't know when."

Sorry about your experience w/ licensing. My team or not we do have regions that miss nuance, completely whiff support checks, etc. Hopefully if there was an outright issue (release, Suid, etc) we told you.

In the past week I've had:
Sales ask customers to make cases with nothing we can deliver (hoping we'd fill in blanks usually too technical for us - we dont have software access but we get the others demos to learn more than us.) Or well before the opp and order were out.

Watched Sales be told again they forgot a SKU for a supposedly major client/deal and imagine they ask for another shortcut over transparency.

Read a Packing Slip to a consultant. Who still hasn't given me details needed for a case.

Saw a different dude in Sales claim he didn't know SKUs, SUIDs, or what he sold his own customers.

Have been asked to alter a key we have tried to warn others we do not have control over. This attempt took 3 people and a screenshot. Only to find out the PM was super proactive and was already working on it.

Had instances where Renewals could not answer Renewal Contract questions.

And we had IT push a broken citrix migration to us. We have to be exempt since every keygen would have to be altered and migrated. Most haven't changed much since creation or acquisition. That took 2 days to fix. There was supposedly a fight over if we could even be excluded, despite that happening long before I got here.

All while orders seem less than normal. If you all told me there was a bottleneck I'd be inclined to beleive you. The new quota seems outlandish though. My bad experiences with them doesn't mean I don't empathize. Things seem abnormally bad lately. Even for OT standards.

It's a sh-t show. IMHO, it's criminal that incompetent leadership is flushing this company down the toilet while they line their own pockets with millions of dollars. It boils my blood. If there was any justice in this world, their ill-gotten wealth would be seized and they would be imprisoned.

Yes, the new GTM strategy has been a disaster. The numbers are also not adding up for the mandatory 2 percent growth by core business unit my that Ayman promised the BOD would happen. Expect we will see some of the sales ELT vacated in Dec.
