Looks like there are about 88k employees at Fidelity and only about 800 job openings. According to AI stats available online, a company that has over 80k employees should have between 1,600 to 4,000 open positions at any given time. This represents roughly 2% to 5% of the total workforce. Does anyone know why the number is so low for Fidelity? Is this typical in the financial services industry? Just curious!

Anyone notice how they aren’t listing multiple job sites now? Also someone said that “demonstrated experience” in the description means it’s not a real job. Is that really true? Seems like just the typical template stuff - copy paste.
@cy that’s insane. Just take back the full time RTO mandate wtf
@f7 not really seeing that at all.
they are hiring mostly contractors.
the open roles we have must be filtered to remove "demonstrated experience" as those are not real roles, they are green card employment market tests. I.e those descriptions are written that only the current employee being sponsored can perfectly fit all of the criteria. they are not actually hiring anybody new with that job description. don't waste your time interviewing or applying. those are just to try and eliminate you and if they can't they restart.
Makes sense! Do we know how many people Fidelity is expecting to leave with fulltime RTO?
I guess we know the cause of the problem here.
There is effectively a hiring freeze right now until they figure out the RTO mess. New job postings are a fraction of what they were before.
The bigger issue is that management is admitting that even at sites requiring full-time RTO, there isn’t enough space for everyone. People are being told to work from cafeterias and other common areas when they can’t find a desk. Given that situation, the last thing they want to do is add more employees to already overcrowded offices.
