All of us who're still here can't even relax knowing we're guaranteed to see more rounds most likely already later this year. We've entered the stage where layoffs are a part of the norm, unfortunately.

Are they relying on Reza to take the aero business forward ? That will be disaster and anyway it is such a mismanaged deptt
@fg Same cohort. 1998->2004. Senior managment was corrupt from beginning. The HNS leased building was owned by president's cousin even in 2000.

@zt charlie has already absorbed the assets into echostar i.e. spectrum and jupiter 3. Now he will keep this running till consumer makes profits and if aero can make some profits. After that he will probably file chapter 7 to dump it all
So they did file for chap 11 last night as expected , Charlie did not bail them out - what happens in day to day operation now?
The writing has been on the wall for years, I was there from 1998 to 2023 and thankfully was in the 10/23 layoffs (in retrospect) but was beyond angry when it occurred!!! It was a good run but pi-s poor management operating in silos. Whom ever decided to offer the hybrid consumer solution was a mo--n!!! I feel for the hard workers but for Sr leadership Go F yourselves.
@bd you cant have success in leo without massive capital and your own launch systems, prasman was right to not go in that direction. viasat is doing much better than hughes
@am That’s right, and to be fair this noncompetitive state we’re in dates before Charlie was in the picture. LEO is ruling the roost in this industry. We chose to stick with what we have been doing since the 90’s and ignored the direction the industry was heading- ignoring LEO and missed the boat, running this company into obsolescence. But the boomers knew best. Rest in peace, Pradman, but damn you for completely missing this boat, when we had the talent to lead in the new direction the satellite industry was going in.
You are a bunch of young consultants making cold RIF decisions they learned from college, and never bothered to understand the critical path of subject matter experts and their significance of the pillars of the business, then what you get is this clusterf**ck of a process.
I wish for the best to those who remained. But please keep looking now. That place does not care about people or Hughes’ business.
@af because hughes isnt a competitor. The last information I got told was that Hughes is 2-3 years behind the likes of Starlink. Now you have Amazon getting in on it.
@a2 I don't think Starlink or Amazon even consider Hughes as a credible competitor.. <500k customers is nothing compared to Starlink's 10m+ customers
@a1 the layoff targeted specific experts and architects. This was not done to keep this company running. Charlie is hands in glove with spacex to make it collapse on its own and file chapter 7.
Obviously the morale is low and I am sure everyone is interviewing and ready to get out.. there is no fun in keeping the lights on kind of job, if one finds a better option outside... how is the left over management keeping the morale high? Who is the current leader/head?
