tech workers in Denver were laid off with like ~4 days notice. This was announced around 8/10. I believe there were other layoffs in Denver the week prior as well.
@qq good, I know a few who need to go because they are useless
When you have a dou--e like Winfrey who runs things, expect everything to fail
All h1b indians are next up
@g1 Is there anymore on that 8%? Meaning the whole company or just q certian group? Also, anyway to nail down that date so people are prepared?
In the NOC, they laid off our poor performers first, the ones that had bad annual reviews. Then a year later they did another round of layoffs in the NOC, and then 8 months after they announced they're outsourcing the NOC jobs.
From the NOC perspective, this was planned years ago. After doing some digging around we found a JIRA ticket where they were building HFC networks, including CMTS etc. They had a whole network built over in India, in anticipation for these changes. First the NOC/SB NOC, then the aerial construction, now HR and upper management. Its only going to get worse
HR isn’t surprising it’s notoriously one of the first depts to get hit in merger since jobs aren’t usually company/knowledge specific. Knowing how to manage benefits or time keeping policies for example is pretty agnostic
@wr I could see them doing this with the regional jobs. They were able to do this with groups like business planning, they created “super regions” where they support multiple regions. There are a lot of regional field ops positions that could do the same, field ops have an absurd amount of sr managers/directors/VPs at each region office.
@wr When ?
@w1 I heard a lot of cuts coming for field ops. Field ops is too top heavy and they are looking to cut down on that business unit..
@w1 what do you mean by that and when ?
enterprise and field op coming up
Bump on this. Any updates?
Some directors are getting notifications too.
@g1 Does that 8% include people who are not ready to relocate ?
@g1 We as in HR or leadership? 8% is a lot, which is around 7200 folks.
@gd from the guidance I received it’s bother FTE and contractors - start with low performers first and work through your budget.
The guise in which this will be sold to public is efficiency in AI allowed the reduction. In reality I think the bond payments are coming due soon combined with merger related expenses/redundancies.
@g1 . Do you have any idea what the 8% reduction will be based on? Will it be spread evenly across teams, performance, business priorities, or role?
8%. That’s the direction we are being given. Reduce by 8% and it’s across the company. It’s coming likely in September or maybe October.
This last round was HR / business planning as they consolidate in prep for the COO
Is it only HR that has reported layoffs in this last round so far? Or do we know what other areas are and will be impacted?
