Geoff Martha

Why isn't GM punished for having to RIF so many people here?

I sold 14 years worth of espp @10% at $103, which I didn’t think at the time was that great. I remember it briefly hitting the mid to upper $130s many years ago, and I missed that opportunity.

Now I feel like I dodged a bullet by dumping most at $103. Waiting to avoid short term capital gains on the rest has also corresponded with the Geoff Martha valuation dump, and it’s worth a fraction of what it was. I’ll be rid of all Medtronic stock as soon as I hold it for a year.

@g6

Exactly. Medtronic's mission isn't helping patients anymore. It's about hitting profit goals every quarter by any means neccessary.

How?

Corruption and rent-seeking from the Board.

No Fortune 500 CEO lasts more than 3 years with poor performance, and that's empirical data. Search it.

Geoff is on the Board, the Board has a sweet gig, and they don't want to give it up. They all scratch each other's backs and they don't give a sht about the success of Medtronic. They're here to cash in then roll out.
