8 hour requirement - RTO

Anyone else catching wind of HR cracking down on the required hours in office? I heard a rumor of a VP having a discussion with some salary ACs and told them 8 hours in the requirement. 1. Why are they literally bringing down the hammer? 2. I’ve never once stayed longer than 6 hours in the 6 years I’ve worked there. 3. Why are salary workers being mandated to stay for a certain amount of time? You’re paying them to do a job; not to do something for a set amount of time. I’m so sick of this bs. How can HR be okay with something for YEARS and then decide it’s no longer OK to leave early. Loosen up the handcuffs a little, jfc.

There is a difference between salaried and hourly work. In salaried jobs, the requirement is getting the work done. If you get it done in 2 hrs everyday, then good for you. We are not sitting at a factory floor turning out widgets hourly for 8 hours. This is why 8 hrs onsite is regressive and makes no sense. We are punishing productivity here. This is going to get enormously expensive.
I have told my teams to not work after 5. Definitely no work on weekends and holidays. Don't email or message or expect a reply outside of 'work hours'. HR expectations from manager to police my associates is ridiculous. I am not going to push them to do more innovative work anymore. Just check the box, clock in and clock out, do the bare minimum to not get fired. That's it. Great job Abby. We are moving fast into irrelevance.

Where did people forget that a work day equals 8 hours. Congrats to all of you working 5-7 hours a day from the office or at home - you are the reason we are headed back to the office.

@gd - I hate to say it, but that is wishful thinking to think it's going back to pre-covid rules with manager discretion. They have all that reporting in place, just like they want to get use out of their buildings, they will want to get use out of those reports. Easy way to deny people their bonuses.

It is simple… the coffee badgers and the moonlighters bit the hand that fed them and now we are all paying the price for it.

After a couple of years RTO will relax, they want to shed those unable/willing to come into the office and the. It will go back to pre-COVID manager discretion

There is no #1.'literal hammer'. If there was, you'd need a trip to the hospital or the morgue.

Sh-t like this is why I’m so thankful I was laid off. Fidelity is so juvenile about rto and it’s very clear Abby was having a mood swing freak out. So d-mb

They could actually get in a lot of trouble for mandating minimum hours. Consult a labor attorney if you know one if you don't believe me. If anyone says anything to me about hours we gonna be talking about the wage theft that has happened in the past where I've done over 60 hours. They absolutely cannot mandate hours for salaried (exempt) people. And if we are gonna play that game then don't expect me to be covering installs at G-d awful hours. F that noise.
