Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Bad visit

Bad Visit yesterday . My store just had a horrible corporate visit. Focus areas were mainly STH and center core. Failing score card, store manager put on action plan final warning. Day after visit store manager is conspicuously absent from store.

@1ca

Some people are sleeping their way to the top (or bottom) in some cases, with this company.

@gj I agree that standards, checklists, and accountability matter—but let’s be real: that doesn’t mean it’s “impossible to have a bad visit” or that good management and a strong staff guarantee job security. You can check every box, meet expectations, and still find yourself on the chopping block if the powers-that-be have already decided they want someone else in that position. Sometimes it’s not about performance—it’s about who knows who, who somebody favors, and who they want in the seat. THAT is the part people don’t like to admit. Accountability should go both ways, and decisions should be based on performance—not friendships, favorites, or politics.

they target any manager making a decent salary, they also dont want managers who take frequent time off and work only day shifts with most weekends off. So, if that's you, be careful.

@md your pretty spot on. They are targeting any manager actually making a decent salary. Who was the guest? Divisional sh-t heads or Don the Con himself? Or was it the snake in the Grass Randy from HR? Although they are broke so Randy the Hrs probably didn’t come. It’s one less hotel room. Anywho, they are are pc’s of sh-t that could care less if you live or die.

@gj. What a fricking joke. Hold associates acccountable. See the problem is that there are only 3 or 4 associates working when the store should have ten or fifteen working. Oh I forgot, we're supposed to ignore that and just push more. I'snt that the whole premise of Belk. The higher ups favor profit over people and have unrealistic expectations. The customers see right through it and can't find anywhere to check out but we're supposed to apologize rather than acknowledge what's right in front of them. Their not stupid. Also in our store we are losing associates really fast.

A good store manager and staffing will know the store expectation standards. Every store Manager has a checklist and should hold associates accountable for each role they play.
It’s impossible to have a bad visit.
