Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

An Oracle Executive is Begging

Shame on you guys. I recently happened to interview a person from Oracle. He was a director in Oracle and was laid off last September. I initially rejected the resume saying big NO for Oracle but had to pick the resume due to strong recommendation.

He claimed to possess tech skills on paper and was able communicate clearly on his projects. Tech gap is ok. The real gap was his financial and strategical thinking. He doesn't seems to have futuristic vision and seems maintained his project in status quo. He doesn't have clear budgeting knowledge. Later figured out he was just running the show with his India team and some engineers which was taken over by his another peer.

Seems lots of managers and directors are hanging around in Oracle like this without basic management skills and a set of people. btw I am an ex-oracle pmts but in senior position now.

Unless you own the company you are working for now, you’ll end up just like that guy one day. So enjoy your moment while it lasts but don’t pat yourself on the back too much

@jd It can be hard to not take it personally when being laid off. You've been loyal, and given your best at work. Almost everyone is upset when they get the bad news, and it's understandable.

@ga The number of likes and dislikes and this thread shows so many people are struggling with their past grudges, insecurity, and pettiness, and so many are trying to move past these.

Nice story but what really happened? Why would an interviewer waste their time to post to an Oracle layoff site and pander the endless number of people who detest Oracle management? A lot of OPs sentence structure is awkward at best not exactly what you would expect from someone who is claiming to be superior.

The story is made up and a lot of people fell for it.... go ahead and down vote this...

Oracle management experience on resume? Automatic reject. These guys were part of mass layoffs.

Not sure what is you are pointing at? In oracle mostly ( Senior)drector of a software development is just a glorified project lead. They don't manage finance Or budget. Not even head count, they just work on delivery side. though there are exceptions to thes as well, but rare.

That may be true, but what made you come to the Oracle layoff board to vent? Is your belief that your job is safe?

Water is wet.

But seriously, everyone knows management at Oracle is a clown show at every layer.
