Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Working in cafe

Heard through co-workers that anyone that arrives on site and not able to find a desk in their zone will be required to work in the cafeteria. I don’t know about you, but I get my best work done with hundreds of people around me and a single laptop screen instead of dual monitors. Not to mention, I’m not sure the cafe workers have the clearance to be around that type of sensitive client information

If you feel information barriers are not being complied with due due to colleagues working in public spaces, FINRA accepts anonymous complaints…

I take my laptop in a bathroom stall once a week. Specifially during my weekly synch with my manager. She hears all the sounds of music from all bathroom attendees. I specifially have this meeting after 1pm for the post-lunch food deployments. The men don't hold back when it comes to handling business.

@cv

Seriously, at this rate what's next: working from a bathroom stall, sitting on a toilet all day?

Where does it end?
The cafeteria thing has to be in violation of some security/FINRA/legal compliance requirements.

What's brewing in the cafeteria?
Sounds like a lawsuit brewing.

I'd love to have performance discussions in the cafeteria.

@a5 You obviously do not work at Fidelity INVESTMENTS .. the key word being the invest part. We are bound by FINRA and legal compliance so regulated that if you sneeze wrong you lose your licences. Do you know HOW much time, effort, long nights, money, navigating managers and internal requirements it takes to get a single certification? Obviously not Or you would know how much stress it would cause to work in an open cafeteria.

this is the worse part about the whole RTO. At the very least, they could give us a dedicated work area.
