Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Those bragging about doing 12 hour days never learned to prioritize and delegate. You aren’t all that important. I know of one who was rewarded with a pink slip.

@k6 love this as its actually so true. I am enjoying leaving work at work again. Can we make that a hat - leave work at work again?

@jz personally, I'm enjoying rto. Traded work for listening to audio books on my 1.5 hour each way commutes. Traded 12 hour days for 9 hour days. Traded always on with evening and weekend work with a hard stop on working outside of 3m facilities (if we can't work outside the office, we can't work). Traded solid 12 hour work & meeting time without lunches, side conversations, etc with now spending 50%+ of my day talking in hallways about non-working stuff, finding subpar soup options in the Cafe, etc.

Best of all, the people in plants are happy as well that I'm working less now cuz they didn't like our jobs were more effective outside an office setting. It's a win win.

God im sick of people complaining about rto what about us that came to work every day when u were sitting in your pjs taking selfies of your dog. su-k it up buttercup. time to do some real work

Explaining why that's the choice (job market, need to provide for family, age, etc.) doesn't mean it's not the choice being made.

What a simplistic view. A lot of people can't move jobs easily because of mortgages, kids in schools, spouse or partner's job, they need continuous benefits, etc. Those people can't leave easily and most likely aren't actually given the opportunity to build real skills to make them more employable elsewhere. And if you're older, it's even harder. Have a little compassion for people with burdens.

I would like to leave, but the jobs aren't out there right now.
