Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Turnover here is higher than anywhere I've worked

Not surprising, though. New people don't get trained properly, can't keep up, and run for the door before the three-month mark hits. When will they realize that training people properly will benefit both the company and those of us who won't have to neglect our own jobs to help them out.

@mz Although, maybe there is some validity in your point. But actually I do believe the reason for the mass layoffs is because AI is so costly.

Therefore, corporations are shedding expensive American citizen workers off their books and replacing them with Indian workers.

And I think in doing so, they figure they are taking care of two birds with one stone, thinking that Indians are more apt in creating AI projects and are cheaper labor at the same time.

I'm in pharmacy and it's a disaster. Everyone I know is trying to get out.

Back in the day, there was a commitment to training. But over time there was a push to cut training time to get “butts in seats” quicker, especially in operational roles. Because new associates were not prepared for their job, they quit. With the constant churn, hiring standards got lower and lower, which lead to even more turnover and even higher hiring costs. It was an ugly constant cycle which is why ELV sent most of that work offshore to save mega bucks. It’s gotten so much worse as they’ve sent more and more clinical front line jobs offshore. But the financial results makes Wall Street happy and makes lots of money for the executives. ELV quit caring about associates and members many years ago, but it’s the same sad story with UHC, HUM, etc.

Managers are so over worked they don’t have time to onboard. It’s a really big problem. The execs seem to think the learning platforms are more important then dedicated job function onboarding

Management doesn't give a rat's ar-e about fully trained staff, only quarterly profits.
