Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Your Job

Each Ford Motor Company employee’s job is to make Bill Ford and the Ford family rich.

That'd be it. That's the post.

Nothing else matters, not you, not the customer.

@2dq amen, the system has gotten so intwined in protecting management, I feel like they're already at a tipping point. FNF rule - incompetence rules, and employees suffer, when employees suffer so does the product and it's showing. Vindictive management, zero business sense, and up side down ethics - that's what rules today.

@163 this is not the only capitalist system flavor around. We had a very different system from 1930s to 1990s, where both the customer and the worker mattered. Really, we changed it in a way that only the mgmt and the stockholder matters - everyone else is getting shafted. Continue like this and immiserated masses start buying pitchforks. I like capitalism and would like to avoid this, so please change something.

I mean we are in a capitalist system. If you work at gm, try to make money for the shareholders. And hopefully you get a nice salary. That’s kind of the way this works.

@q0 I wish some people in marketing thought that way.

@py It really isn't. Success is measured by the individual lives you uplift and your unwavering adherence to personal integrity, rather than your career achievements or material wealth. Integrity means your actions align with your personal values. If your actions do not align with values or you are chasing achievement, you are wasting your life.

You just figured this out?

Brilliant, you must be a Ford engineer.

I have said this many times myself. Since retiring, I have worked harder than I ever did for Ford. I’m doing work that I choose to do, that I find rewarding, that people appreciate me for doing, and that helps other people. I’m out of the business of being the victim of abusive political games at Ford for the sole purpose of enriching the Ford family. And never once being thanked or appreciated for my efforts.

My career was a long, unrewarding slog and I’m glad it’s over.

Your job is to do your tasks, fund your life, and advance your career. Your career is owned and managed by you. The job belongs to the organization.
