Thread regarding Optum layoffs

This culture call is horrible

The guy was asked how culture gives an advantage and the dude went off on his dad passing ( I mean sorry for your loss ) but then he told the whole world he was a bad person? Like what is going on here. They have no answers. So just give long word salads so people lose focus on what the question was.

@e1 Since you're so smart and think you know everything, who is qualified for that role then?

@jb CPO title is usually code for the person who papers the legalities of layoffs, implements layoffs, and offshoring.

@a9 Add to that even though we are basically self-insured, our health insurance isn't great. Oh but we are making healthcare easier for everyone.

@OP Right after that mandatory culture meeting spewing how easy we are making healthcare for everyone I found out our company has been denying payment of medical visits that you used to pay for prior to Hemsley coming on. Now I get to spend my off work hours filing appeals!!!

Kalshi Predictions : Mr. Unhinged Bald CFO will be fired this year.

That entire panel needs to be fired, hire someone decent as CEO CTO CFO for less n reinstate the full 401k match, raises matching inflation with the money saved

@ez I caution against focusing on the CMO for perceived company ills, whether real or not. With that said, the top 100 leaders are incentivized, through stock options worth an average $8M to $20M next year, to maximize profits through globalization, care denials, and stock buybacks where the cash can come from an October RIF of thousands of US workers reclaiming unvested RSU units ($1B). Our free time is better spent on side hustles and career move beyond UNH.

@ez I should have explained I am not the person who posted the original comment which was quite racist. However, the fact that she is the CMO means nothing. She is still prioritizing personal compensation over patients.

@et It is normal for healthcare companies to have a Chief Medical Officer (CMO); it is not a symbolic position. Targeting the CMO with racist tropes says more about you than her.

@ba It doesn't matter what her race is, what her politics are, or what she did in the past. She is now simply someone who spews unproductive nonsense in exchange for a huge compensation package. The executives we watched speak yesterday have made themselves the public face of a business model that profits by standing between patients and the care they've already paid for. They pull in tens of millions built on denied claims, prior-authorization mazes, and algorithms that reject treatment at alarming rates, while rank-and-file employees face 401(k) cuts, the elimination of bonuses for PG26 and below, and raises that don't even match inflation.
When they step in front of cameras or Congress, they deliver the same rehearsed lines their communications teams and lawyers have written for them. They know the script isn't the truth, but the truth doesn't pay eight-figure bonuses, so they read it anyway. It's the sound of people who traded whatever principles they walked in with for stock options. People who long ago stopped losing sleep over the gap between what they say and what their company actually does to the sick people it insures.

Should have been optional. While the CFO's anecdotes and family drama was jarringly unrelated, nothing anyone else said was any more valuable when I really think about it. Big waste of time.

Wayne has issues man. Seems unhinged. Also there are no real questions from the watch parties. Always fluff. You mean the forced attendance that these guys would be ok just to leave their cubicles for an hour or get off the phone. Everything about this is disingenuous garbage because every decision they make is at the expense of employees.

lol I like the comment about we care what the shareholders thinks but our focus is our employees. I call bs Pinocchio. Someone really need to step in and say just stop or disconnect and call it a connection issue or something. I’m so embarrassed for all of them.

Morale is an all time low, manager full of it, directors full of it, now this bs. I have never sat in a meeting anywhere I have worked that was so full of cr-p that every other thing said seemed to be worse than the last comment. Gaslighting at its finest. Smoke and mirrors, then the mental case.

Their call makes us want to vomit. But, we expected that. The only thing that keeps us going is maybe a goal that isn’t controlled by a stock price. While that develops, thank goodness for the one, maybe two people we sometimes share a laugh with. I am pulling for you.
