Now that the DCG was booted, are we done with layoffs for a while? Or are the rumors of a 60000 headcount true? I told my friend at work he was just being paranoid, but I don't know what to trust anymore

Half of SMG went into CCPG when the CRO abandoned ship. If the new SMG exec does not take some people back...CCPG can easily do a 10% on 8K like DCG and get to LBTs 2026 goals. Expect announcements in October.
Any updated rumors about CCPG?
@w3 don't you mean the CCG?
DCG layoffs around Oct/Nov.
You heard it here first!
@sc Scoff at AI and Robotics all you want, that will not stop the inevitable.
There will still be fab and cube workers, but they will only be those who either outperformed AI or who were more cost efficient or in some way more capable than the robots.
Deal with it.
More dum dums…. If everyone is fabless who makes the product? And have any of uou even work in s fab? AI and robotics cant do it all. Super clean? How about T1 Fork replacement. Wow the id--ts who post jere dont deserve to work
One of my Intel bosses said a diaphragm valve can be installed backwards against the arrow on the valve and I disagreed, but I got laid off. Shows you the type of people they keep, death by a thousand cuts.
Layoffs are inevitable until Intel sees profits rather than losing billions each quarter. It's no longer about a headcount target anymore.
@hc exactly.
The going success measure is who has the least amt of people. Arista winning so far
@h8 well umm... Fabs don't need to run, if you shut them down or sell them.
This is exactly what was about to happen in 2024 and didn't happen.
And it will still have to happen sooner or later.
Fabs are one enormous money waste for Intel, with a pure loss of more than $10 billion of dollars for Intel every year.
Intel can, should, and will go fabless like literally every other semi company in the world.
Humanoid Robotics are about to become a huge thing, and AI is already being used on the design side, and increasing in many other areas.
Get used to the idea that layoffs will be a regular thing till the company has fully integrated both technologies.
I would think that the target could eventually be something in the 30,000 area, and this is happening to all semi companies. The workers who adopt and become much more productive using AI will stay and others will go.
Robotics will simply replace the need for so much manual labor, regardless of performance. Maybe reskill on how to make the robotics train better?
Deal with this as this is your reality, and have a nice day.
No HR is being fully outsourced finally
Heard that target is 2....listen up dum dums. Fabs still need to run 24/7/365 that means there is a bare minimum to run them. Lets do a count shall we 12,22,32,42,11X, 9, IMOSC, IMORA, D1D, D1C, F28, F20, F18, F24,F34, ATD, Fab 5, Kulim, Changdu, Penyang....this does not include support HR, GSC, etc. It would be challenging even with AI to reduce much more that the 78K. Is there fat? Absolutely. Enough to bring down to 60, 65, 70. Probably Not so quite your whining babies.
September 8, the day after Labor Day?
Sept 8th >50% cut for certain teams in CCG.
HR has already processed impact list.
Long term target is to get to 60000. The positive attrition will be achieved through “performance management “ so that the attrition is voluntary and severance costs are minimized.
@OP Spider Tan, Spider Tan, does whatever a Spider Tan Does
You can always trust the def met team of Oregon!
It’s never just one area that gets cut…
Heard of something in ccg, true?
