Pips not RAs ?

Has anyone else noticed the slew of high performers above band 7 or intern level suddenly getting PIPS post stock crash? We keep talking about RA’s, I think that’s being generous. They’re stooping so low, why RA when you can do backdoor terminations and not have to pay severance? Anyone else seeing this happen to colleagues the past month?

@y4 Saw a lot of the summit hires years ago do a lot of brown nosing. As the saying goes, a lot of them could not figure their way out of a wet paper bag. Not to mention poor work ethics

Not much of a career path IBM unless you lower your standards and are brown nosing with management

@jp Yes—virtually all, if not all, of the Albany personnel affected last round were demonstrably high performers and recognized leaders. Their removal resulted in the loss, abandonment, or significant disruption of numerous projects and strategic programs that had previously been driving meaningful progress.

@jw we need to use it against them. If you are put on pip and were a star performer before. Document and sue

PIP is leverage against a lawsuit being filed by all those on the RA list once they are shown the door

@f8 in Albany plenty of people (most) who were in the RA were not on a PIP or even labeled as low performers . I only know of one who was on a PIP at all there. They got rid of many through PIPs there but separate from RA

An IBMer walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Why so blue?"

The guy answers, "I've been RAed."

And the bartender says, "So AI can make PowerPoint presentations now?"

PIPs are how they GET you on an RA. They have to create a paper trail showing poor performance. That's what a PIP is. Every RA I know in Consulting, barring last year's purge of non-Indian staff in March, was put on a PIP, however brief or nonsensical, before the RA.

If you are on a PIP you are going to be RA'd in the September batch. Guaranteed.

@cm agreed nothing ever changes around here unless we get sued

The idea is to let go as much seniors as they can. I know lot of smart folks getting into a PIP for nothing...
If you are getting into a PIP/RA just sue the company following your local laws. Always, always and always sue the manager, the lead and the company.
Your manager is using a rude language with you? Sue your manager.
HR enrolled you in a PIP for no reason or using rude language? Sue HR.
IBM is letting you go without paying any severance? Sue IBM.
Every single employee that is leaving IBM (layoffs) SHOULD sue IBM. They will learn the lesson like this.
