A week and no reply. He, she or it heard the word remote once and thought it'd make them sound smart. The term UTC is also pretty uncommon. Only a handful of states use that term and most arent lumen states. The puc is much more common in terms of regulatory bodies

Who’s denying anything? The same starlink fool (maybe it’s you) goes to every telecom forum every couple of months and injects “starlink blah blah blah” no matter what the post is about. Riddle me this…since the starlink shill, you, posted they announced cell service and made att and Verizon stock drop why has space x stock tanked? Shouldn’t it have skyrocketed? Yea, fibers about the only real work we have left on the daily. Otherwise its go patch some copper. Mostly just bypass paper and swing to pic in a case. Update new counts to......no one because no one cares. Just write it in the xbox. Maybe something exciting like throw a module in a ped that was stolen to get those 3 bonded customers back in service.

Yep, it’s gonna get worse.If the cable doesn’t meet ROI it’s getting abandoned / mined. Get your OT in, stack your bank account and start building new skills. Learn to splice fiber, check our electrical apprenticeships, look into municipality work.
Use this job as a spring board into a better career. We are still hiring cable techs but this job will not be here forever.

Nothing new.
In my area, one of the remotes went down for 8 months. By the time the UTC forced lumen to replace the remote. Most people jumped ship and went with Starlink.
Starlink will be offering mobile service via Starlink in 2027. This will finish off the remaining rural customers.
Verizon and Att stocks plunged after the announcement.

Only 10 days on cable? We've got cable thats been missing for months. Stolen sections, stolen peds cut flush. Consolodating 900s down to 50s....were 3 months out in some areas. I never thought id be a drop hanger...but stringing a 6 pair 800 feet is faster than waiting for a reel of cable to show up. It's no longer maintenance. Its just make it work somehow with whats on the shelf in the shop.
We are all experiencing this pain and unfortunately a lot of good people are going to get hurt. It does su-k !
