I was unfortunate enough to hear a layoff happening live over a video call while in a meeting room from another meeting room, I could hear every word clear as day. Sales operations for sure got hit

I agree with the senior mangers part - again customer success is quite bloated since it’s been combined with sales during the last few months - my manager sees me once every fortnight and I don’t see any value in them
Whereas benioff is happy to lay off people with actually technical knowledge
@z6 I don't think trust will 'erode' between workers and companies. Layoffs are unfortunate but part of the business. Sometime companies just need to change their strategies and sometimes that requires restructuring at a level where individual performance does indeed not matter. Every adult in the room understands that.
I also see comments about management. On that note, I think it would be interesting to see if the existence of so many managers justifies the cost.
I work in customer success - my manager was off for over a year sick and another team member the same, I had women in my team who openly said they wanted to get pregnant to go on maternity leave, and we are sacking good people - i have a bi-weekly call with my manager - which when she was off sick didnt occur once - why not start by sacking grade 8-9 remote workers too
@z6 they should look at senior managers they do NOTHING
Despite the general narrative around AI justifying a reduction in the workforce of these companies, it looks to me that their layoff strategy is just a long play to drive down employee cost and use the savings of that to spend more on AI.
A major problem with this strategy is that it erodes trust between workers and the companies, in particular when individual job performance doesn't matter anymore. I wouldn't be surprised when more insider information leaks.
Tableau hit hard...
Marketing, events, etc. also got hit this time.
