Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This is the genius running AT&T

An RS quote from Wikipedia:

During his tenure as CEO of AT&T, Stephenson was frequently quoted as having stated, "Screw the customers, I'm taking care of the shareholders." Whenever reminded that, without any customers, there would be no shareholders, as the corporation would obviously be forced into bankruptcy, Stephenson would reply, "I don't know, let me chew on that.

By the way, where has RD been? When is he going to have another town hall again and talk about "game changers" like connected homes and vehicles?

Bull$h17 to the OP, and no one of any serious quality of reputation ever uses Wikipedia as a cited source. I really wish this anon website would stop catering to the haters and detractors to the company and focus on making the company great again.

I wrote the messages disputing the BS about Stephenson posted earlier (thanks for pointing out my errors, I need to do a better job checking before sending), glad someone is reading them.

No I am not a friend or relative, I never met the man, I am not in Dallas either. I think RS and :"stinky" et al have made horrible decisions that we as employees and shareholders are coming to realize are not good for the company. I actually read that before the buying spree, Stephenson actually made SBC debt free. I want that Stephenson back. If you know who I was, you would actually laugh at the comments you make. I am a fierce ATT critic (26 year employee btw). While in some ways I have mentally checked out waiting for a nice offer so I can retire or 2021 whichever comes first, I still do my job to the best of my ability. But I dont spread BS or lies about anyone in the company like the OP did. Someone said its a joke. as a friend of mine who is from another country said to me "jackass says what is joke to you is death to me" lets keep the postings accurate, l love that its anonymous so people can vent without fear of loosing their jobs, but lets be accurate in what we post or say its ones opinion, one would be more credible. My .02. Hope my spelling was correct this time:-)

It must be true its on Wikipedia, I cannot believe anyone would believe that statement. I do remember him saying retool for cloud or find someplace else to work. I was rally happy to hear him say that. He gave people plenty of time to learn and he let everyone know he and the leadership team were serious about this change. I know people sitting on their couch think it's super easy to run a business of this size and scale with such a diverse portfolio but it is not, it is extremely complex. Making outlandish claim like he said screw the customer and using Wikipedia as a source shows an extreme level of immaturity and ignorance, no offense. That is about equivalent to taking dieting advice from Jeffrey Dahmer

"I call bull sh– on op statement. Provide the link where that quote is mentioned or stfu"

Regardless of the veracity and accuracy of some of the claims in this thread why that degree of anger and vitriol? You sound like a family member of RS or something.

And then this -

Calling somebody " barely literate" and then ending your commentary with this statement?

"Bad decisions were makes (sic) by Stephenson but he is not stupid"

Anonymity is a good thing, but use it to provide a POV and not silliness.

Hey op I realized you are barely literate so this may be hard for you to understand. However if you are going to cite a source make sure it’s available for others to actually read. The links in the article relating to the allegation of what Stephenson is supposed to have said are both “dead”. I’m skeptical he was stupid enough to say something like that. Bad decisions were makes by Stephenson but he is not stupid.

Hey genius, why should I search? I did not make the assertion, OP is a fool if he cannot provide the evidence to back up his claim. Wiki is not a good source since its editable. While I despise the MSM, I would actually not oppose or discount NYT, WP or LA Times or Ne York Post as sources . Not my job to so what the lazy a– OP cannot or will not do. He should put up or STFU and you too. mo–ns.
There is plenty of stuff out there in this blob that were already linked to about stinky, he is no doubt one of the worse execs out there and if ATT elevates him to CEO it will accelerate the decline maybe worse than Michael Armstrong back in the 1990s.

Here is an article from 2016 that should restore your confidence. Note the dialogue near the middle of the article:
"His first online learning began with an unexpected challenge: getting online. AT&T’s own Wi-Fi was too clunky, Mr. Thrun recalled. Eventually they used Mr. Thrun’s smartphone, which ran on the network of T-Mobile, a rival carrier.
The building’s Wi-Fi is now said to be better, and elsewhere in AT&T the first employees are getting their online Georgia Tech degrees."

Wikipedia is easily vandalized. I wouldn't be surprised if RS actually said that. After all this is the same genius who said that employees w ere the revenue-generating "product" that is of the utmost important to the company. Same product he's been sh–ting on with Stank

OK Google RS and open the Wikipedia page on him and read his bio. Wikipedia is usually quite accurate - I cannot provide any confirmation beyond that.

@uls - that's not you is it RS?

RS Just wondering where you have been hiding your face. Why don't you have a town hall and personally present your views regarding the state of the company, Elliot, and the mass layoffs you have caused. Better yet have a discussion with Tucker and stop using your highly paid lackeys as a shield. Is it because you are quite ill (quite likely) or just can't defend yourself against tough honest questions. Nobody in this company believes you or in your decisions including most of Dallas

@pmd, The OP already provided that in the post. If you're not familiar with Wiki, Google it.
