Paychex has decided to layoff approximating 10 designers and over 70 developers. They are refusing to give any reasoning or criteria for why they targeted individuals, citing AI wasn't the reason and that it was for "business needs" and "sustainability". From what I've heard they gave former employees only 9 weeks of severance.

@126 generally the media only gets wind when its over a certain number, or if someone reaches out. Its why Paychex keeps doing these small amounts. Instead of 200 people that they need to report to unemployment and get media attention, they do 50, 100 at a time. Unless someone specifically reaches out. They also lied the last time they did get media attention. Remember when they laid off like 2.5% of the company? Several hundred people? They reported locally that it was less than 1% because locally, it was. They just didn't mention across the country.
@126 I am not a9, but there were no reports on local news outlets
I’m sure the merger with Paycom is going to go really well - no issues between the systems at all
@a9 was this reported in any of the Rochester area media outlets? The layoffs were silent so nobody know what the total impact is. Bunch of on-shore contractors were laid off as well.
@d7 yes, it happened on the morning of the 17th.
@a9 Did this happen on the 17th?
They laid off a lot more people than that yesterday. Product Management and PMO was affected too.
