Toxic Management & Illegal Constructive Dismissal at International Entity (Government Agency Intervention)

While global HQ preaches corporate ethics and announces structured layoffs with severance packages, the reality at one of its major international subsidiaries is a textbook disaster of cronyism, severe toxic management, and unlawful practices.
If you are considering joining this company (either in sales or other), read this first.

  1. Cronyism & Extreme Toxic Environment Following a change in leadership, the regional entity was overtaken by an ex-competitor clique that privatized the organization. The pressure and chaotic direction became unbearable: within a single regional technical department, two young engineers collapsed due to severe vascular crises (myocardial infarction and cerebral hemorrhage). Unsurprisingly, both systems engineers and sales reps have been fleeing the subsidiary in droves, with multiple new hires quitting during their probation or taking medical leave immediately after.

  2. Severance Evasion via We-ponized PIP To avoid paying official restructuring/severance packages, local management we-ponized PIPs against selected targets. Despite prior recognized contributions, impossible targets were imposed to manufacture failure. Legitimate rights to medical leave were concealed from stressed employees, leaving them no choice but to resign under extreme duress.

  3. The Ridiculous "60pt Font" Forced Resignation In one flagrant instance of constructive dismissal, management presented a resignation template that had already pre-printed the text "Personal Reasons" in an absurd 60-point bold font—forcing the employee to sign away their rights to company-initiated severance. The sheer amateurism and intimidation tactics of local management are beyond belief.

  4. Official Government Regulatory Intervention The negligence didn't stop at forced departures. Former employees attempting to process legal post-employment documentation were met with an automated bounce-back stating the HR inbox was "no longer monitored" and completely neglected for months. This explicit violation of statutory labor regulations triggered a formal inquiry and corrective action by the local government's labor regulatory agency.
Local leadership is desperately trying to hide these catastrophic failures from San Jose. HQ Compliance, Rajiv, and the Audit Committee need to investigate the toxic clique running this subsidiary before further legal liabilities and brand damage hit the global press.

Layoffs 6am on Monday

Layoffs will start 6am on Monday by email. Approx. 11,000 employees. No change in severance from last round. No garden leave- effective immediately. Retroactive WARN notices. Remember WARN also doesn’t apply to remote workers. A similar sized layoff in March. Nearly all teams are expected to solidify AI development processes even further. Teams will begin to transition to big picture small headcount silos. This will begin the shift and divestment from resources abroad to a smaller Oracle <90,000 employees by 2028

Redeployment Center

I got laid off almost two weeks ago. I received a personal and work email for a job offer. It’s Employee Installation Representative. It’s for 5 months. It would not mess with my severance. I would get paid what I was making. Has anyone else received an email Iike this or accepted this?

Verizon Retiree COBRA Plan – Is It Worth the Cost?

Has anyone here who recently retired or forced into retirement from Verizon signed up for the Retiree COBRA Plan?

My severance package includes my current health coverage, but that coverage ends in September, so I’m trying to decide whether enrolling in the Retiree COBRA Plan is worth the cost.

I know I can call Verizon Benefits and get answers to my specific questions, but I’d really like to hear from real-world Verizon retirees who have actually gone through the process and can share their experience.

For those who enrolled:

What are you paying per month?
Which plan did you choose?
How has the coverage been compared with what you had while working?
Have you run into any unexpected costs, limitations, or issues?
Overall, do you feel the Retiree COBRA Plan is worth the cost?

I’d especially love to hear from Verizon retirees in Florida, but I’m interested in anyone’s experience. I’m trying to make an informed decision before my current coverage ends. Thanks!

Severance Question: 1 month vs. 2 weeks per year of service

I was looking through my new employee paperwork from when I started at Wells many moons ago, and at that time the company policy was 1 month of severance for every year of service. Sometime in 2017, the policy apparently changed to just 2 weeks per year.

My questions are: Can the company legally change a severance policy like that? Did employees have to sign something acknowledging the change?

I vaguely remember seeing something about this in the OWBPA or on Teamworks before I was laid off. I’m especially wondering whether older, long-tenured employees have any recourse.

Please only weigh in if you actually know the answer or have relevant experience. The snarky remarks are getting old. Thanks!

Hang on or Get out?

It is so subjective, isn't it? Use the information that you have and do what is best for you and your loved ones. Clinging to the notion of getting severance has caught up more than a few. Then, surprise, your severance is lost due to a relocation of your work to another division or company such as Cognizant. The only move to make is the one that gives you a semblance of peace in the current environment. Semblance, not actual peace.

Off payroll in June. Accepted severance. Verizon pulled employment history in August.

I visited TheWorkNumber website and an entry under “Verifiers who have procured or attempted to procure your data in the past 24 months” appeared as having been pulled by Verizon in August.

Is this de rigeur for offboarding? I’d recommend everyone check theirs.

How much is your formal notice before termination date and are they deducting that notice from your lump sum severance ?

If you got 8 weeks notice was your severance package 18 months less 8 weeks?

Is anyone getting longer formal notice? Did anyone get like 6 months formal notice so that severance was significantly reduced ? (18 months, less 6 months ?)

The unfortunate 10%

Wondering what might happen to the 10% that were placed in bottom ranking group. Will they automatically get terminated? Will they get severance? In most cases placement was probably due to performance but have heard of a few cases where managers made false accusations to force placement in the bottom and satisfy the newly established quota.

Going through stockholm syndrome. What is the earliest one can reapply to get rehired?

Obviously wait until your severance is a month or so from being done since the hiring process is about 4-5 weeks from first interview to job offer on average. Some licensed positions are quicker since not everyone can apply vs anyone off the street like a teller.
