On the other hand, HCSC seems like a kid in fourth grade trying to figure out a college level manual. How are we still waiting on decisions here almost two years in? When will Igor come up with a definitive direction around AI? The townhall where he said "100 years ago, people didn't know they wanted a car, they just wanted faster horses" was a fancy little tidbit. Well, Igor, using your own analogy, we don't want a car or a horse, we just want to start moving. When are you going to get out of the way and let the team race forward?

That's all this latest rumor is about. You buy a company, you get a chance to get rid of redundant positions, and somehow the number of such positions is always huge. As if not all of them are redundant, but were somehow marked as such because, why not use the opportunity to the max?

Plus, with the job market being what it is, you need to start looking sooner rather than later to have any chance of landing something. Qualtrics has initiated job cuts across its global operations following its recent acquisition of Press Ganey Forsta. The company cited duplication of roles between the two independently built organizations as the reason for the reductions. These layoffs are impacting employees at its dual headquarters in Seattle and Provo, Utah, as well as international offices. While the exact number of affected employees has not been disclosed, a WARN notice indicates at least 50 jobs were cut at the Seattle headquarters. CEO Jason Maynard stated these decisions were necessary to function as a single, unified team.

So who are we not buying or partnering with?

I’m trying to figure out what the long-term plan is for the French site post-acquisition, because the messaging we're getting locally is incredibly concerning and honestly makes zero sense.
I’m in a very profitable BU. We have the budget and desperately need the headcount, so we went to put in a job requisition. I was flat-out told that the company has decided not to make any future hires in France from now onward. Period.

This is right on the heels of the recent layoffs where we lost over 60 people on the Ansys France side (around 10% of the local workforce). The layoffs were executed pretty smoothly here, so a sudden, permanent-sounding hiring freeze immediately after feels totally out of left field.

What really baffles me is the geography of it all. France has historically been Ansys’s third largest presence globally, right behind the US and India. We used to easily have 10 to 30 open positions at any given time. We’ve always hired heavily here because we have massive customers right in our backyard and the engineering talent for Ansys products is top-tier.

Yet, from what I can tell, this strict "no more hiring" rule isn't being pushed on most other geographies.

If we are profitable and have the talent, why the hard stop just on France? It creates so much uncertainty about the future of the site. It feels like they are just going to let attrition bleed us dry. Has anyone else heard this directive from leadership? Are they quietly planning to phase out French operations entirely?

Circle City Broadcasting, the new owner of WRTV-TV Channel 6, terminated over 50 employees shortly after completing its acquisition. Fewer than five WRTV staff members were offered positions with the new ownership. The company plans to move WRTV's operations to the WISH and WNDY building. New ownership pledges to increase local news programming on WRTV. This marks the second significant layoff event for Circle City Broadcasting properties.
