The company aims to preserve local journalism by integrating the newsrooms and launching a new AI-enabled streaming platform. While some employees have expressed devastation, the company states the goal is to enhance public service and focus on original reporting. The long-term impact of this consolidation on local news coverage remains to be seen.

Why are you still at Citrix?

The acquired company doesn't care about the employees or the customer, so why are you still there. The only Citrix thing about Citrix now is the name. It is nowhere near the great company it was while it was Mark Templeton was there. Ever since the acquisition, it has not only gone down in value, but also in the human culture it had.

Resign. Spend time with your friends and family. Travel. Be a good person to yourself. They will never treat you like anything other than the number. The layoff after the acquisition was the best thing that ever happened to me. Live long and happy, my friend. I don't always drink beer, but when I do, it is the flavor-of-like I drink.

Gbg

This garbage company and its garbage M&A under existing leadership have destroyed it. If this company... and its incompetent corporate development team under even more incompetent leadership and a clueless board... could evaluate opportunities half as well as its peers, maybe it wouldn’t be in this situation. Instead, they have a bunch of unqualified people running business development under GM and Skippy, who themselves apparently can’t add, subtract, multiply, or divide.

Live Nation and Veeps Layoffs Devastate Music Publications

Live Nation and Veeps have laid off nearly all employees at several influential music publications. These publications, including BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine, were vital to underground music culture. Experts note that corporate acquisitions often lead to such outcomes for independent media. The loss is seen as a significant blow to alternative and punk music scenes. This move comes despite Live Nation's recent strong financial performance.

This move aligns with a broader trend of layoffs across the crypto industry as companies adapt to market pressures.

Not Impressed

Unfortunately, I did not choose to work at Siemens- Siemens acquired the company I worked for. Since the acquisition, I’ve found the overall environment incredibly difficult. There is very little genuine collaboration, and many interactions feel unnecessarily abrasive or outright rude. The overall energy often feels adversarial rather than like people are working toward the same goals.
The organizational silos seem to reinforce a culture of protecting individual realms instead of collaborating across teams.
This has been the most frustrating company environment I’ve experienced, and I've worked at multiple big tech companies. It is not an organization I would personally consider a 'best place to work'.

Spacex wireless

SpaceX's first earnings call (Aug 2026) after its June IPO, where President Gwynne Shotwell and CEO Elon Musk announced plans to build a real terrestrial mobile network, not just satellite-to-phone backup service, putting them in direct competition with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

The core plan

  • SpaceX is acquiring 65 MHz of spectrum from EchoStar (~$17B deal) that includes rights to build ground-based ("terrestrial") service, not just satellite.
  • Instead of building traditional giant cell towers, SpaceX wants to turn existing Starlink satellite dishes (already on rooftops) into small cellular base stations ("femtocells") — cheap and already deployed.
  • Musk argues this could give better/higher bandwidth coverage than today's carriers, especially since dishes have unobstructed sky/ground views.
  • Shotwell claims the upgraded system (new spectrum + next-gen satellites) will be "100x better" than current Starlink Mobile. New satellites start launching next year (2027), with service beginning end of 2027.
  • Shotwell won't disclose the buildout budget — she says the femtocell approach lets them scale spending gradually instead of huge upfront capex.

Why analysts are skeptical

  • 65 MHz is tiny next to what AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon collectively hold (over 1,000 MHz).
  • One analyst (Craig Moffett) says without an MVNO deal from an existing carrier, Starlink can't realistically be "competitive" in the next 5 years — and the Big 3 have all declined to do MVNO deals with Starlink.
  • The Big 3 are pooling spectrum/resources in a joint venture partly to blunt this threat.
  • The podcast (Recon Analytics) gives a more detailed, more bullish-but-nuanced technical theory: SpaceX will likely buy 800 MHz spectrum (from a company called Grain, originally from Dish/T-Mobile swap) for wide rural coverage on tall "macro" towers, then densify using its EchoStar/AWS spectrum, and eventually buy upper C-band spectrum for cities — all timed around the 2027 5G-NTN satellite standard. Their view: SpaceX will dominate rural coverage and be a real disruptor, but won't fully replace AT&T/Verizon/T-Mobile as a nationwide equal within the next several years.
  • The IEEE ComSoc "Analysis & Opinion" piece (AI-assisted) argues the most likely outcome isn't a full carrier build-out or acquiring a carrier, but a hybrid: buy spectrum + selectively lease/acquire small assets, build only where economically justified, and lean on satellite for the rest — because SpaceX's capital is increasingly being pulled toward AI data center spending instead.

Bottom line: SpaceX/Starlink is signaling serious intent to become a real, direct competitor to the wireless carriers — not just a satellite backup service — using spectrum it's acquiring and a low-cost "distributed small station" approach rather than traditional towers. Nearly everyone agrees this is a real threat (all three carriers' stocks dropped after the earnings call), but there's real debate over the timeline (2027 vs. 2030+) and whether it ever becomes a true fourth national carrier versus a strong niche/rural player that pressures the incumbents.

Visa layoffs hit senior ranks, including six VPs and 37 senior directors

Visa recently conducted a significant workforce reduction, impacting approximately 7% of its employees. This restructuring effort involved the elimination of around 2,600 positions across various levels of the company. The cuts included a notable number of senior roles, such as six vice presidents and 37 senior directors. Company leadership cited evolving work methods and the influence of artificial intelligence as key drivers for this organizational change. These layoffs occurred alongside the company's fiscal third-quarter earnings report and a substantial acquisition.

InAuth / Accertify

I worked for InAuth, which was acquired by American Express. The company was run by a bunch of people who didn’t understand how to manage a software project, create a marketing plan, or exercise any meaningful leadership skills. Management was highly motivated to increase their frequent flier miles and avoid getting fired before their bonuses arrived. Everyone was interested in making money and getting promoted, but no one wanted to fix the constantly-breaking software. Charles Crupper distinguished himself by his inability to understand who the bad actors were, and to believe every self-promoting id--t who came his way. InAuth could be a business school study in how MBA’s should not run a technical company. Stupid is as stupid does.

Infosys coming to takeover!!

Its official!! Infosys is coming to take over the projects in CSO org. God only knows how secure ATT data will be after that. So, employees are supposed to train them only to be told bye bye in 4-6 months!! These id--ts at the top never learn from the past and what is happening in India right now... India just bashed up Meta top leadership citing a small technical glitch only to suppress freedom of speech and forcing them to block insta accoutns of a number of people who are protesting against the government!! Yet Stinky wants to send work to India and Indian companies...stinky will eventually realize how d-mb it was to move work to offshore and foreign companies but not before making a costly mistake just all other billion dollars mistakes he did in the past.
