I’m reading there are supposed to be more layoffs in October for management in retail stores. Does anyone have any details on this?

I know it's pathetic, but I hear it all the time about employees in my neighboring departments about their million-dollar stock portfolios, their private jet excursions to private islands on their days off, lavish lifestyle. But they just work at Lowe's because they just like to be around the people. Sound familiar? Chime in.

I feel as if this company has lost all credibility and respect. It’s become a laughing stock of the retail industry. I’m sorry folks, that’s just how I feel at this point.

Every retail in the US seems to have inconsistent stock. Canada gets new beyblades sooner than US, how is that even possible? Why doesn't your marketing team do a better job at advertising the brand and letting know the beyblade community when the new releases are hitting the street? Can't be that hard, right?

Useless position and no future.

Managers in retail are starting to step down after this last round of cuts.

Sales have been in a steady decline for several years. Customers are buying less, spending less, and coming back less. Our foot traffic has halved in the last 12 months. You heard it here first. Belk is in early stages of discussing implementation of universal scheduling. What is universal scheduling? Well, everyone, and this means EVERYONE that works at the store level will be required to work a mix of morning, mid, and closing shifts. Store managers, support, housekeeping, HR
included. Soon, only day shifts (8–4) (7-3), (9-5) will be strictly prohibited. What if you can’t or are unable to work closing shifts? then it’s aidios!

Here's a pet peeve. Why isn't company policy being enforced? Company policy explicitly says that 2 people must be in the store at all times. Why is this policy not being enforced? And why are DL's conveniently looking the other way on this? Strictly following this policy would help a lot, because then corporate would see how bad things really are when they see the amount of stores that would open late and close early every day.

Well. we miss Burdine's. They were the Florida store, and traveling there, from New York, we always knew the store (even as Federated) was somewhat unique...not like the old days, but a differentiating experiences. How are things now after seeing some of the doors re-adjust in numbers and went through the closures ? Anyone care to offer some thoughts ?

Staples will close two stores in August 2026. The stores are in Goleta, California, and Levittown, New York. The closures are part of the long-term plan to reduce its retail store network. Staples reduced its U.S. store count from 929 in October 2025 to 916 in January 2026.

Well, under the legacy nameplates, a big part of the department store shopping experience was enjoying the full-service sit down restaurants in-store. Bloomingdale's I believe still runs their restaurants in house. However Macy's, unlike many of the legacy nameplates with the exception of the former Marshall Field's, Walnut Room (was run in-house) and lease-op Herald Square restaurants,Rockaway,NJ and perhaps a few others are all there is.

What are your thoughts ? When these restaurants were well operated, they drove traffic ! (Yes, I know the food courts changed the business in the 80's, but respectfully, some insight and other contribution and opinion would be appreciated.

Leave belk off resume…unless you have a huge gap in years….other big box retailers (mostly all clothing retail) will not even interview a person with belk on their resume. Belk is considered the red head stepchild of the retail world.

I look around and it seems like nobody cares about the state of our stores. It's pretty depressing.

What is the severance for retail this time around. What is the minimum and what is the max. Do you get all your stock, including what hasn’t vested?

what is the new rewards program for belk charge cards, it will start in august or september but belk is being tight lipped about it. some are saying it will be less rewards and customers will have a 39% interest rate.

Was anyone in engineering impacted? It seems like this was mostly a retail layoff.

No one notice this? Only covered regionally where the doors closed, but seems like a big deal.

Any update on the Burlington Store

Does anyone really believe they are stopping at 1k for stores? Why would they when the agents can do all the heavy lifting. New York and the northeast got sla-ghtered today. Definitely more to come, the only question is when?

He was senior leadership in Indirect. They must have hit others and not just retail. I hear he a good guy. Anyone know anything new?
