St. Louis employees are expected to start getting relocation notices next month. At this point, the direction is obvious. AT&T keeps pulling more jobs into the Dallas area, shrinking its footprint elsewhere, and building toward Plano in 2028.

This is not just another office consolidation. Dallas is clearly winning the location battle inside AT&T, and Plano looks like the final destination. Every round of relocations makes that more obvious. Other offices lose people, lose influence, and lose relevance while North Texas keeps gaining all three.

If you are in St. Louis and still hoping your office will somehow avoid this, that is becoming harder to justify. The company is steadily narrowing the map. More roles go to Dallas, more decisions get centered there, and more employees are being pushed toward the same choice: relocate to Texas or move on.

People can hate the strategy, defend it, or complain about how it is being handled. It does not change the result. St. Louis is losing. Dallas is winning. Plano is winning even more. The center of gravity keeps moving south, and by 2028 there may not be much left to debate about where AT&T wants its future to be.

Why do the follow the work letters that are going out have Dallas listed when we are moving our headquarters 20 miles north in Plano? That is like a 45 min drive just between the locations.

How inconvenient to require people to drive to the Dallas location when the location is changing in 2 years. Who even comes up with this stuff? It is like they are actively trying to cause unnecessary stress and inconvenience to their employees.

Single income and Have 2 kids in elementary school going to middle in 2 years. Frisco seems to be best so far based on what I saw in great schools. But commute su-ks. Can you please recommend other areas, somewhat closer to commute. I may have to drop off kids and pick them up as well. So some flexibility there would help.

A lot of rumblings here at the corporate office in Dallas of some mass layoffs hitting San Antonio. Hearing that there is a huge move to a new building out there and AT&T is way over budget. I have no clue what positions are even in San Antonio so be prepared to follow the work if you’re a unionized employee or have your resume updated if you take the surplus package. If it’s for managers which unfortunately get little to no benefits then I would create a Texas Workforce Commission account right now to get ahead of the unemployment benefits that Texas at least has to offer. Relocating to Dallas this summer and thinking of moving close to Hosp Elementary school in Frisco. I have kids in elementary schools and wondering if anyone is in this situation to commute from Frisco to downtown Dallas and what times you usually start your commute and manage the 9 hours at office. There is something different about Friday in Downtown Dallas. The week is nearly done, and you can feel it. The pace is still fast, but the mood is lighter.

On my way to AT&T, I notice the people around me more. The coffee cups, quick steps, quiet faces, and small signs of relief. Everyone is still moving, but Friday gives the commute a different energy.

Does anyone think building the new HQ with this economic climate is a little crazy?

I can’t help but think about how they will ultimately cut people as part of the balance sheet tight-rope act such an enormous expense will cause.

Lastly, as a Dallas native I’m worried about the economic health of the city when we leave. I know the tower isn’t the best but access to mid-day kayaking isn’t something anyone cares about.
