FIS stopped paying redundancy compensation

Does anyone have clarity on how redundancy pay is calculated in Australia?
In Singapore, FIS paid 1 month's salary for each year of service to employees who were made redundant. In Australia, it looks like FIS is following the government-mandated rates under the National Employment Standards. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Today is the day where XOM lost an unbelievable amount of talent between our Australia friends moving to Woodside and the remainder of the Brits being made redundant. Sad day for us all and we will suffer the consequences long term. China shutdown was just the beginning as Australia will be next to move all operations with exception of Sales and some Core Leadership and HR functions offshore. Zenith Building will be getting closed down within next 18-24 Months. You will start noticing the rats leaving in the next 6 months as major leadership changes occur after June 30. As an American with prior ties to setting up Sydney back in the early 2000's, I felt obligated to whistle blow this information. Run when you get the chance.

Union in Australia

Reading the Fair Work Act 2009 and if my understanding is correct Dell cannot stop you from unionizing. Furthermore, it is illegal for an employer to take "adverse action" against you for being a union member or participating in union activities. This includes but is not limited to fire or demotion, refusal of hire because of your union history, discrimination (cutting hours or denying promotions), coerce or pressure you to quit the union.

“If your employer is intimidating you or treating you unfairly because of your interest in a union, you can contact the Fair Work Ombudsman or the Fair Work Commission.”

With the above said what is stopping us from joining union and pushing back on this unethical and utterly unfair commission plan?

Are we all going to fold our tails and cop it?

BHP blames ‘coal tax’ for job layoffs

On Wednesday, BHP escalated its campaign by blaming “unsustainable” royalties and market conditions for its decision with its joint venture partner, Mitsubishi, to suspend operations at its Saraji South coalmine in the Bowen Basin, and slash 750 roles across the state.

The big miner said it will also conduct a strategic review of the BHP FutureFit Academy in Mackay – an educational facility that trains new miners – because of the royalty scheme’s “unsustainable impact on our business returns”.

Shortly after the announcement, two other miners operating in Queensland, Anglo American and QCoal, revealed job cuts.
