I’m experiencing this also, I’m a senior engineer in my team and we have two graduates. They are using Copilot to generate all the code they write and it’s producing absolute slop, when we do code reviews on the PR they can’t even explain half the code. It’s fu--ing awful.

@2g9 you mean driven by the same people who think co-pilot is the best thing in the world. Knowing this company, it will be a half a-s honey moon until the next buzz word or new "wonder toy" comes out. The technical leaders of this company are a fraud, esp Z. You want to see the future, just look at his tenure at CVS and Paypal

They are now offering 5k if you can justify AI use LOLOL. They need stories to tell the shareholders because the AI panic is coming.

@247 I call bullsh-t on your post. Cite your evidence please. All AI systems are being developed inhouse with at least a 2 year timescale, this work is not being outsourced and the systems are not being purchased. Total cr-p. Posting rubbish like this does no good, you just panic people and make them feel like cr-p. I am not saying they are not going to take jobs eventually, they will. But not for at least a few years, which gives people a bit of breathing space. I'm not some company brown noser btw, I am well accustomed to the problems at Allstate and how lamentable the management is. I just hate it when people make up sh-t like to scare others and make them feel bad.

@1hj They have already purchased the systems, after listening to the consultants they hired. Therefore it must work. To pay for the acquisition as well as to prove the decision was correct they will let Claims employees go. Ignorant and unfortunate….and true.

Interesting finding this online here after a meeting I had at the start of each week which was the cause of me coming onto this site. I work customer claims. There have been rumours for a while now that they are brining in AI to handle claims. We were told this week that a new AI driven Claims system is currently in development which will do the job of human claims handlers and could be released at year end. But not to worry it will be there to make out lives easier and help us and the AI will make the decisions and we will review those decision and have the final say. In other words they want us to help train an AI which is going to replace us. Morale gone, work ethic gone, loyalty gone, trust gone and when I get a new job, me gone.

It’s clear all major companies bet too high on AI out of fear of being left behind.There will be a large bailout for corporations and corporations only when it inevitably fails. I do wonder what will cause the pivot — there was already a session on not using it for *everything or only certain models for certain work. Which is it? What a sh-t show.

I am at my wits end right now with this AI push.

I am a technical lead with plenty of experience and a proven track record of delivery. In the past, the lack of expertise of certain colleagues at least acted like a brake on their ability to do harm. Copilot has just released that brake entirely. Bad developers are now producing massive volumes of AI slop that has a basic veneer of what looks like respectability. But under even the most minor scrutiny, the change will actually break things.

I came back from vacation just today to find that two developers who had no clue what they were doing, who just introduced a massive several thousand line change into production that cannot be rolled back. No oversight, no proper testing, minimal superficial reviews, lgtm. Zero fcuks given by the two individuals involved.

If this is the future, I want no part in it. I am not going to spend the remaining years of my career reviewing torrents of Copilot tu-ds.

Kindly do the needful to make sure Co pilot is used everywhere.

Yeah another pie-in-the-sky idea that will save the shareholders million on paper but in reality will end up costing more in the long run. Management seem to think copilot will replace people - you give it a list of tasks, tell it to do them and a few seconds later they're done and correct and accurate. They don't want to know the reality - like a calculator or a spreadsheet, copilot is just a tool that actually needs a person to be of any use. But its something else to fool the shareholders with for another year so they can keep getting their large salaries and planning their eventual exit strategies.

@a2 Copilot is so bad even the engineers within Microsoft refuse to use it, yet genius senior management at Allstate have spent millions on it.

@a2 at this point im laughing at them. i look around and team morale is insanely low. they have themselves to blame for that. just a bunch of hypocritical robots.

think about the amount of C-Suite change that has happened in the last few years. its a sh-t show here but nobody is ready to admit it

going all in on microsoft products that will slowly start to splinter reporting sectors across the country. all while doing another migration as they have to force everything into fabric.

Especially copilot… it su-ks compared to Claude. Allstates dependency on Microsoft products is holding it back
