Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

New badge in badge out for office employees

My friend is a director in compliance and works with facilities CHQ & coming in 2027 hearing we’ll be implementing badge in badge out to ensure people are in the office. Also being said Q4 they’re advised to review reports of people who are not in 4 days a week. They were originally pursuing the idea of tying in office personnel, bonuses to days in office, but couldn’t make it equitable for the work from home employees..

looks like they're doing this in our region level near the California market, certain teams will audit it and notify that they weren't in the office, so it's not just HQ it's also regional offices

So badge in and out tracking along with mandatory 8 hours in office?? How can they set the hours like that for salary employees? Feels like that should be breaking some labor law out there…ugh

I worked at Comcast and was laid off in 2025. This is a good thing. The people who did the work are often let go in Comcast layoffs while the people who manipulated and kiss a-s get to take and keep their seats. There is a “no work” culture at Comcast right now. Maybe not in all departments but in the more optics-driven ones like PR, Marketing, GA, they take the pics, post the pics in suits like they’re working, kiss the right a-s, and then stay home most the year sleeping or doing yoga. They manipulated to keep their jobs because they know they are not watched and enjoy the pay without doing work. Maybe the outside world finally reported to HQ that the people they keep aren’t people outside folks want. And outside folks are who pay Comcast’s bills. I’m not big on Big Brother RTO but Comcast has been so hands off with employees, especially in the regions, that this may be how they sniff the bad ones out if it’s not too late. The culture is absolute sh-t, the ones that stay are manipulators that kiss up and punch down, really talented people are let go, and it is finally costing the company to act, but it may be too late.

It would be funny if everyone refused to badge out.

Comcast had always cared more about sending jobs to India than anything else. An absolutely treasonous company. I pray for their demise.

Does anyone have insight or thoughts on if the new CEO and leadership team will roll back on this RTO mandate and the big brother badge in / badge out nonsense?

confused what does employees in the office have to do with people ditching xfinity for fixed wireless. seems like that would be strategy and marketing issue. maybe fix that first

Did they validate this with the fire dept? Why don't they just put rfids on everyone. Or make them wear cameras on their heads to watch what they are doing?

out here is CA it has been 4 days office/or field for construction specialists (called NPM since 6/2023). but like outside sales people, no strict daily badging requirement if you go directly to the construction job site or customer location first thing in the morning. i know a lot of women in our department prefer to stay in the office since they were former coordinators who got "promoted" into the NPM role. The 4 days a week badging in and out won't be an issue with them.

@fn yes, but currently 3 days is the minimum before you go "on the list"

For all of April, I did not go into the office once. I am sure I ended up on someone's bad list but I retired on May 1. It looks like I made the correct choice.

With all these changes, people at the top have forgotten about the core value of caring for its employees and their needs. Everything is turning so big brother-ish and it’s disheartening.
