I like what I do, and I've always tried to give it my best. Lately, though, it feels like every time you prove you can handle something, you're rewarded with even more work and even higher expectations. At some point, even the people who care start wondering why they're trying so hard.

Please read my post again, the issue is when your forced to work two different area's and their is a problem.
I am expected to go back to the area with the serious problem fix it, then go back to the other department.
I am not allowed to say, "sorry its not my problem its after 12.30pm I am no longer involved with Department A, I am know doing my time in Department B
And I too have worked extra hours and saturdays when demanded by mgmt.
If you are only working from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, then you are not working hard enough.
Management ordered me to work from 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM on business days, provide 24/7 on-call support, and additionally I had to work most weekends. I never received a pay raise from State Street and then was laid off.
Management refused to recognize the extra hours worked because they required the timesheets to only state 40 hours worked.
It appears that you have one of the nicer managers at State Street.
I was hired to do one specific job, but as the layoffs what on.
I was told my job duties would increase and I be working my department.
And helping out another department due to worker layoffs in their area.
So I would work 8.30am to 12.30pm in my area, then I work 12.30pm to 5.00pm
in the second area.
Did I get a pay increase ??? Nope
Did I get a bigger bonus ??? Nope
Did I feel overworked and used ???? YES
Unfortunately it’s been this way for the last 20 years. Please don’t waste your time. I did for years and finally gave up, the it turned to……I just didn’t give a cr-p and found I was happier. It was nice to give what I got!
It sounds like you're an excellent candidate to seek employment elsewhere. You'll never be rewarded/promoted, until you leave and go to a good employer. Many companies will roll out the red carpet for your work ethic and success.
