Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

They're forcing people to quit

I've seen it happen to three good people in the last couple of years. They asked questions, pushed back, or challenged a decision and within weeks, they saw repercussions. Their workload doubled, they became subject to constant criticism, and any support they had before simply vanished. They didn't get fired but they just got worn down until they quit. That's the BP way, I guess.

If you have been there for a long time with a nice severance waiting for you don’t quit. If not, get out of there as soon as you can. It’s bad for your mental health.

Nobody is being "forced" to do anything. Each and every one of you people show up to work every day because you voluntarily choose to. Sadly, a small subset of you people spend much of your day tormented in your own self-imposed misery and feel the need to share it on this website. Get help.

People getting fired are not getting severance. Getting fired = performance issues = no severance.

It’s not a forced quit if you know there is somewhere better to be and worth your while.

Don’t quit. Make them fire you. Still have to pay out so you don’t sue and make things unpleasant. Never quit.
