What does it mean? I'm sorry if this is common knowledge, but this is my first job and I've been at it for just over a year, I have no idea what it refers to.

@cd It depends on your specific situation. If you can find another job rather easily, take severance. Otherwise you are going to a contracting company that will treat you like an expensive commodity. And you risk being replaced by a lower cost employee or being let go altogether without severance.
Which one is better? Rebadge or severance package?
Can we request for severance and ask our manager to fire me? Is it legal to ask them? I am tired of this. Will look for another opportunity outside.
You are no longer an FIS employee but an employee of a third party contractor. This gives FIS an easier time to RIF you without consequences.
